Default How to set Gmail on 8900 to sync w/the server for when I delete/read new messages?

Please Login to Remove!

When I delete/read message on the 8900 it will mark them as read on the sever or deleted after a few moments. When my 8900 downloads new emails to my folder they show up as unread and if I read/delete them on the sever (say on my PC for instance) they don't seem to show as read or deleted on the handset. Even when I tell it to reconcile it still doesn't seem to sync with the information the server has. How do I change this setting? I can't seem to find any settings on the phone itself or on the T-Mobile settings but maybe I missed something.

Thanks for the help.

you could try the gmail app, or give IMAP a try.

i just recently switched from POP to IMAP (read about it here) and am very pleased to see messages i've read on my 'berry reflect as "read" in my gmail inbox.

see IMAP setup instructions here.

Wirelessly posted (8900)

Imap won't give you as fast of a "push" is the only problem.

Gmail actually has an official BlackBerry Setup page for IMAP.

It can be found here.

The one problem I have with IMAP is that deleted emails go into a folder (or Label in Gmail terms) called "Deleted Messages". They don't go into the Trash.

I have no idea why but it took me awhile to figure out where my deleted messages where going.

I believe T-mobile (Blackberry email setting) allows you to synchronize deleted items from gmail.

Still looking for that. I'm IMAP now and still can't seem to get opened/deleted emails to reflect on the server when I open/delete them on the handset and vise versa. I have T-Mobile and an 8900 and am talking about Gmail.

I don't think this has much to do with Tmo. I'm on Rogers in Canada and sometimes I get the same. Gmail does not officially support IMAP for Blackberry.... sometimes it works great, other times not.

A "real" IMAP solution coming with BIS 2.6.
Great!
New feature of integrating a Gmail webmail account with BlackBerry Internet Service 2.6

Hello, I have almost identical problem: when I read messages on my PC, they don't show as read on the handset. If I start "reconcile now", or if I delete some previous mail(s) from PC, then mail on the handset appear as read.
We use BES 4.0.7.8.
Problem accured for now on two new 8900 devices and it's users who change the handsets (BB Pearl - which works fine, and Nokia E61i which also works fine).
Any help appreciated, thanks in advance.
