Btw, I bought this global phone on Ebay from a seller who says it's unlocked. I popped in my SIM card and it says Activation Required at the top and it won't even read my SIM card... Is it even unlocked?

It worked just like you said.
I bought a Verizon Storm2 9550 and use it in ISRAEL @ Cellcom.
After I followed your instructions I have "Cellcom - 3Comxxxx" (my WiFi connection name) at the top of my home screen instead of the annoying announcement.
Thanks a lot, man.
You are the man.

Great Calix! ##000000 worked, I just used it with a 9530 verizon unlocked in Panama and finally got the "activation required" out to my carrier name.

Re: "Activation Required" how to remove?
this has fixed the problem for me, i dialed ##000000 then it went to another screen where it gave me dafaulted wrong phone number, i delated that and typed my actual phone number. i clicked on blackberry button and pressed save. blackberry storm restarted itself. and i could see my carrier name on the top, insted of activation required. make sure press ## twice before pressing six zerros.
