Default PIN to PIN

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

Q) Does the PIN to PIN message go from the handheld and the wireless provider to another handheld or does it use the RIM's SRP also?

Reason for the question is that sometimes, a blackberry user calls up and tells that he/she is unable to send/receive emails. I ask them to try and send a PIN message to validate that at least the handheld is working.

Q) If the user is unable to send even the PIN messages, is it safe to assume that the problem may be with the handheld or the wireless provider (and probably there is no issue with SRP or BES)?

Thanks!
Annu

PIN goes over the dataconnection, so if they can't do email OR PIN, then yes, it might be the provider.

Could it be RIM's SRP?

It certainly could be on RIM's end, as PIN messages are relayed through RIM's infrastructure as well.

Just to clarify, however, this would not be RIM's "SRP".... SRP stands for Server Relay Protocol which is the protocol used to communicate between the Blackberry Enterprise Server and RIM's infrastructure.

PIN messages have nothing to do with your Blackberry Enterprise Server or it's connection to RIM's infrastructure.
