Default Movies on my Bold?

Please Login to Remove!

Any idea how I can put my dvd's on my 9000 to watch them? I've looked through the Media Manager and it dosn't seem to have any "import movie" function. Would I need a 2nd party dvd rip program? then put it in my movie folder? How have you all done it?

i use pqdvd to rip dvds for my ipod/itouch/bold and save them to a folder on my desktop. Then using media manager, I drag the file to my memory card.

I also drag music from my itunes library to my memory card.

Default Movie sizes...

I run linux so my options would be different than yours but whatever the method you use, you should be able to shoot for about 100mb filesize per every 30 minutes of movie. I formatted all my movies after ripping them to match the resolution of the bold and that shrunk the filesize down on the mp4 to be just about a perfect 400mb for a 2 hour movie.

I would like to do this too. Which program do you use?
Thanks in advance.

So the Bold can play the same format as the iphone/ipod? Or there's an option to format for different phones?

Maybe I'll just d/l it and try it out

I like Handbrake myself since I work on Multiple platforms. It converts and rips and removes the drm. (not for stealing but for coping your own media). You can output in many formats.

HandBrake

blurb from their open source site

Supported sources:

* Any DVD-like source: VIDEO_TS folder, DVD image or real DVD (unencrypted--protection methods including CSS are not supported internally and must be handled externally with third-party software and libraries), and some .VOB and .TS files
* Most any multimedia file it can get libavformat to read and libavcodec to decode.

Outputs:

* File format: MP4, MKV, AVI or OGM
* Video: MPEG-4, H.264, or Theora (1 or 2 passes or constant quantizer/rate encoding)
* Audio: AAC, MP3, Vorbis or AC-3 pass-through (supports encoding of several audio tracks)

Misc features:

* Chapter selection
* Basic subtitle support (burned into the picture)
* Integrated bitrate calculator
* Picture deinterlacing, cropping and scaling
* Grayscale encoding
