Default New server, going to migrate from 2003 to 2007...what about BES?

Please Login to Remove!

I have a single server setup and looking to move to a two server setup with one file/print and one Exchange. Currently everything is on one and it's not all that fast with the 60GB (and growing rapidly) private store. So I want to put in a server with 8GB RAM and RAID 10.

Was considering going to Windows 2003 Enterprise with Exchange 2003 Enterprise but figure it makes more sense to go to at least Windows 2003 or 2008 x64 and Exchange 2007 since Exchange 2003 won't do anything with RAM over 4GB.

Figure either migration would be pretty easy but I'm concerned about BlackBerry Enterprise Server. I know there are versions of BES that work with 2007 but I don't know if I would be running BES on the new server x64 server or the old x86 server.

Has anyone does such a migration?

I was going to migrate one sacrificial lamb with a Blackberry to the new server and see how it goes.

Does the BES server itself run on the old server? I thought I read somewhere that the BES management application does not run. If it will all run on the 2007 server, I would be fine with that.

still have to upgrade to 4.1.4 and do everything in migration guide.

keep it on the old one? you can do that.

What do you mean? I run it on the server or my laptop.

For up to 30 users it can, more than that you need dedicated box for BES>

.
