From the home screen, press the menu key, then select "Unhide All". The icon should appear in a "transparent" state. Highlight the icon , press the menu key again and select "Unhide".

Go to Options>Advanced Options>Applications and look for the BBMaps application in the list. Do you see it there?

Have you checked in any folders that you may have on your homescreen?
