Default Wanted to share/discuss: why Blackberry on BIS is a good mail client?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I came to blackberry bold from HTC touch. I loved the HTC, the windows mobile and the outlook. then thought to moving to the blackberry era.
I like the bold 9700, the design, the speed, the quality, but not the email on BIS. I always heard that blackberry is the best smart phone for emails. and being an email junkie, I though of moving the blackberry.
in my email everything is organized in folders, moving the message to the corresponding folder once I read it, digging through old messages every now and then... when I got the blackberry I found myself unable to access my personal folders, file email message, and sync device with the email server. I have to do some tasks again once I get to my office or get home.
I tried other smart phones: iphone, HTC dream, droid and all was able to sync and work with email in a full operation than the blackberry.
so, I still wonder what is the big deal of blackberry email handling if you are on BIS?

Blackberries email capabilities are (and always have been) best when used with a BES.
It started there, and they added BIS.
They are making progress (such as with 2 way syncing of gmail) but its slow.

I agree it has been and still best with BES.
but with all smart phones in competitions offers the basics that the BIS users can get, it is a major shortcoming.
why do I have to be working for a company that has BES in order to view my personal email folders sync my email?
I am comparing the BIS users to the normal smart phone users, not the enterprise/corporate users. I think RIM should take a move in the personal users direction

First off, I don't consider a BB as an email client. It is much more than that, as it also provides calendar, contacts, phone, and Internet access.

As for what makes it better, IMHO it is the security that is "built in". But it isn't for everyone. The things you are ranting about are available to the corporate user on BES. The personal consumer version, BIS, does not include those features - yet anyway.

That's what I said, not available to BIS users.
and all competitions in smart phone world are calender, contacts, phone, and internet access tools too. and maybe better than the blackberry in some of these areas.

I really want to understand that built in security, how it works, and how it makes BB better.
