Default OS: 8300 Latest OS: 8300 4.5.0.294/4.5.0.174 (Multilanguage)

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.294 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.294
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 4.5.0.174
  • Software Platform: 2.7.0.105
  • File name: 8300M_PBr4.5.0_rel294_PL2.7.0.105_A4.5.0.174_AVEA. exe
  • File size: 90.07MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the OS file here:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...F22A6C2A830A17

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded. (Vista users be sure to right click on the .exe file and select "Run As Adminstrator.")
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Upgraded last night. Sorted out my memory leak from my previous OS.

This model has taken away some of the icons that I used to have and is quicker in response for me.

Noticed my birthday notifications now come on the day rather than the day before. Still haven't noticed anything else.

Does anyone know if this OS fixes the "profile crash"? I am still having problems with my sounds just suddenly disappearing when in the normal profile. Requires a battery pull to restore sounds for text, phone, etc.

Thanks!

Default issue with Blackberry

My BlackBerry 8300 is in a complete mess. It was always going blank especially when I was on a call. I thought it was battery. I have changed the battery but the problem is still on.

A new battery, fully charged can't last 3hrs even without using phone. It goes off almost immediately it is removed from the power source.

Also it is always having error message (Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException) when the handheld reboots as it always does.

I have also noticed that I can't use yahoo and BB chats. I got the same error message when BB chat is clicked. I even tried to send pin-pin but it failed with status report "service blocked".

To say that this is frustrating would amount to an understatement. Someone suggested that I should update/upgrade the OS. Would this work? Or is there any suggestion from anyone?

One thing I noticed is that I'm having a more and more memory leaks as I have to reset the device a lot. Every day I have to reset it as I lose memory fast.

This is a first time my blackberrry has done this. I am thinking of going back the original Rogers OS.
