What is 14m3r? Is that a type of Atheros chipset?

both have media slots noth have a 312mhz processor.

Me iil take the gps. and the bigger form factor since I have big hands.
Bigger hands would be more suited towards the 8320 rather than the 8820. Why? The keyboard is JAMMED together on the 8800 series devices. I have small hands and have a hard time typing on them.

BTW, RIM announced the 8820 today.

Did anyone else just spontaneously combust?

Interestingly InfoSyncWorld says the 8820 supports both SD and SDHC - about which a discussion has been raging here. They also say it's definitely ATT.

I am waiting for a BB with Wifi, 3G, and GPS. Am I wasting my time to wait?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

On the 3g your wasting your time. That's a network issue. in the mean time hate the french. Caus they just got what you wanted the 8320.

The 8300(curve) series will not have gps. Itrades gps gps for the camera.

I would love a 8800 with GPS and WiFi, a camera would be nice, but I don't care that much about it.

What happened with the Papa Bear? GPS, Camera and WiFi, why is it so hard for RIM to make an ALL IN ONE device instead of making everyone pick between multiple versions.

...not sure what happened with the Bear family, aside from our misinterpreting their labels with the actual components under the hood (that could be a possibility).

Take this for what it's worth but I run our companies cell department and we have about 650 users on our pooled minutes plan, so our bill is about 70-90k a month. Well, after reading the rumors of the 8800 being pulled from the shelves I called the company we outsource our cell items through to contact our account rep ans ask about the 8800. Our account rep contacted someone else in T-Mobile about my question and his response back was that he hasn't heard of the 8800 being pulled but he will investigate and let me know more on Monday. The sentence below that pulled directly from his email was:

We are launching a new blackberry ( the curve ) in Sept. sometime and that may be leading to some of the speculation. I'll know more on Monday.

The guy in T-Mobile we emailed is our direct account rep for a 500 user +, 500,000 minute pooled account and he went to someone above him for the response above. Don't know how accurate that is to be honest, just thought I would pass it along. His more on Monday response it to the 8800 being pulled from the shelves.

My national sales rep. says that September is the timeframe, and she has been accurate in the past.

You are correct. We are going to EOL (end of life) the 8800 when the curve launches, probably in September. The 2 devices are very similar. The curve is just a bit smaller and has a camera where the 8800 does not. I don’t have pricing yet on the curve but it should be close if not the same as the 8800.

I’m not sure how you would like to proceed. When a device goes EOL it often takes several months to sell through our inventory. We continue to support the device despite the EOL status; we just don’t continue to buy them from RIM.

This is in reference to me not rolling out the 8800 yet at my company because I wait for the 1st software release to update bugs and then I read here the rumor of it being pulled.

@Home: Enables VoIP service like Skype.

3G: Yes, they've got the radio spectrum. Goes live in the 4th quarter 2007, or more likely, 1st quarter 2008. (Not necessarily for the Curve)
I was told and looked up info for the @home service and I think its only for tmobile @home and Tmobile hotspots not for skype. maybe skype could be used with the wifi. Can you point me in the right direction if you have other info, this seems real nice.

Oh, sorry if that was confusing. I meant to use Skype as an example of VoIP for those that don't know what VoIP is - not to imply that Skype itself could be used.
