Default Scroll Wheel Problems

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,
My friend has a 7200. I am not exactly sure on the model. But 80% sure its a 7250. It is a VZW phone. But heres the problem, he can scroll side to side with it. But he can't click. Is there anyway to fix it. He dropped it. This is when it started doing this.

Thanks,
Steven

Check out Main Page - BlackBerryFAQ.com for instructions on the disassembly.

Could probably take it apart and fix it if it's jammed.

Take it apart and see if something is jamming it where it will not push in. if that is not the case then look to see if you can fix it. My experience is; if it is the button inside the wheel you cannot fix it.
if someone knows more about how to do it I would love to here about it. I have had to donate brand new units that were dropped 'wrong' (as if there were a way to drop it right) due to this problem.

good luck

Yea, I am going to have his Blackberry tommorow and let him borrow mind. I will then just take it apart and check. Then update his OS. I also noticed in that link that the guide only states what tools to us. So I guess I will take pics of the process.

PS: I just wrote this up and posted it on my Blackberry. Never could do this on my LG. Also was able to reply to an e-mail. That was time urgent and made $200 (I rent out moonwalks). But long dtory short, I love this baby. Its life changing!!!

I just took it apart and the button in between the wheel is broke. So I guess its a goner. But I most say there was so much dust inside and would recommend if you have one take it apart and clean it. It is not very hard at all and is very self explanatory. Seems as if the inside is a magnet for dust.

Is there any other way to select or click on an item? Because I can scroll through the menus, just can't click on them. Also how do you tell if the 7250 was on an Enterprise. Because I went through the Options and it has a section that says Enterprise. But when I click it, I come to a screen that says enter e-mail and password. Also he does not have E-Mail assigned to the unit. He told me he could not figure it out.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I will not have the Blackberry in my hands much longer. Because its not mind and he has my Blackberry. I trust him, but also don't want him to drop my 8830. Accidents happed, But well I am sure you understand.

Thanks,
Steven

Hmmm. I just looked for a track wheel and turned up no such luck. Do you have any links? If it's not to bad and really worth buying, I will go ahead and order it. If not I am going to help him buy a new one. Even if I just put in some money.

You can use the enter key to go level down and the space bar to change option, as for pulling up menu options I don't know. I know the 'R' key in a message screen will reply and 'F' will forward. I don't really know all of these keys but I am sure that someone else here can help you further.

Good luck

When I hit "R" on his Blackberry, it brings me to reply. Witch is a step forward for now. But we can't get it to send. This is for SMS Text. He is still thinking about a new Blackberry. Since I can get a 8830 on EBay for arond $160 now (Back when I got mind it was $280). I was going to buy it for him and he pays be back over time. But he thinks that's to much for a phone. But oh well, find by me. I can put it toward a Workstation. Maybe a Mac Pro.

I am having some problems with my scroll wheel. This morning my wheel stopped working completly. I took out the battery for a while and tried again, it worked. Then it stopped again and I could scroll but not click. Now I can scroll and click but it now clicks on its own! Not just a few, it saved like 50 draft emails because it keeps clicking on messages. Is it possible that the wheel is now clicking all the times I tried to make it click earlier today?
