Default Backups not working properly

I've noticed that my backups are no longer creating a Cab file, only the IPD. Both the Auto backups and manual backups are doing the same. Is there something missing with the way it's working now?

They've always been .ipd files.

Just .ipd files as long as I've known.

Now I wonder what the Cab files were for until it stopped producing them about 2 weeks ago ...

Thanks!

If you want to get to the bottom of it, look at other possibilites. I'm 100% sure it was not the backup process performed by desktop manager.

The Switch Device Wizard - which can be used to back up 3rd party and OTA apps - creates CAB files.

I think an OS upgrade creates them also

I've done nothing differently at all. I plug in my BB via USB, pull up the Desktop Manager, click on Backup and Restore, then click Backup and save the file with the date in the name. Before I would get the .cab and .ipd every time, and it just stopped producing the CABs. Both files would be created while the backup was running, and it would prompt me when the backup was complete as it does now. It's a simple procedure and I've done nothing else other than upgrading the software and OS. I still have the CAB file from my 11/11 backup. Looks like it's full of .png image files for Bing, some icon files and .rem files for Weatherbug, Visual Voicemail and other apps.

Oh well, I won't worry about it -- but I really haven't done anything differently insofar as my backup procedure is concerned.

That's weird. I just looked. I backup almost every day and only delete old backups every once in a while. I have files going back to July. All ipd.
