anyone having problem with screen turning off after 30 or 45 sec in bedside mode....sort of defeats the purpose.

also noticed that screen wont dim unless auto lcd light feature is on in options main menu for screen and keyboard.

Mine comes out of bedside mode without the LED coverage indicator working, that is, I have to enable is again (turn it off in screen/keyboard options, save, turn it on, save) for it to work once it is taken out of bedside mode. Dimming of the screen seems to be working fine.

Default I have the same problem...

Same thing here for bedside mode. The screen goes dark after the display timeout. It should not.

I didn't realise you could this without 'craddling'. My screen dims for a bit and then switches off. This is true with all the OS's that I've used. I probably missed a setting some where so I'll have a look in the lovely manual.

I am not quite sure what is the purpose of putting the BOLD into the bedside mode.
For me, it does not really make any difference; because everytime I want to EXIT from the bedside mode, I have to manually select the option.

I think, the Berry should enter into the BEDSIDE mode when its charging. (Because the Bold can take about 3-4 hrs of charging time)

and it should; automatically EXIT the bedside mode, when its unplugged from the charger.

Just my 2 cents...

Bedside mode is automatically exited when the set alarm is triggered. So if you enter Bedside mode at 11PM and have the alarm set for 6AM, bedside mode will be exited at 6AM the following morning when the alarm sounds.

are you sure about that capabilities?
I didn't notice this in the morning... and when I unplugged the usb charger, when I go to alarm, I always see the option to "Exit Bedside Mode"?!?

Does anyone aware about this?

Having the same problem as you guys.

Had my BOLD for a week now and bedside Mode work for three days thus;

Manually put bedside mode on.
No USB connected.
Screen dimmed, alarm time showed time to go off in red.
All satisfactory.

After three days.
Manually put bedside mode on.
No USB connected.
Screen Dims and 30 seconds later goes off leving blank screen!

Pressing trackerball brings bedside mode back again and 30 secs later blanks again. (screen timer under options set to 30 secs)

Anybody had any luck with a fix for this?

Bedside mode with the screen dimming and staying on only works for me when it's set to automatically enter bedside mode when connected to charger.

I would not want the screen staying on when not connected to a charger so I don't see what the issue is?

Agreed. I think this is by design. Why allow for the screen to be on constantly when not plugged in? The device wouldn't last too terribly long that way. Bedside mode appears to have been designed for when the phone is being charged, at night, on your bedside table... hence the name bedside mode.

Thats fine for you guys then....

My thoughts are that the orginal post asked a question about bedside mode and screen going blank. I tried this and screen didnt go blank - remember this dims the screen to just 1% - hardly a battery drain!

However after a few days the screen did go blank once timed out - so something different had happened.

So thats the issue as I see it....
