Default New Storm 4.7.0.122 OS from Bell

Please Login to Remove!

I got an email this afternoon about some update. I went through RIM's website and got nothing out of it. So I turned to DM and an update was made available. Got this in the end of it all...

It's a war zone over at Crackberry.com. Hope I didn't break any rules by posting this up.

Ya, that's the reason why everyone is going nuts over at crackberry. It's definitely weird.

I was using .114v2 hybrid before I upgraded. As for differences, the only thing that changed a lot was the camera app, you turn it on, focus and snap, it's pretty fast. Color banding issue is still around though.

I'll let you know if anything else comes up.

Installed it on my Telus 9530, running BIS. Make sure to do a backup previous - the one done with loader.exe did NOT work at all.

All is good, coming from .113 it feels faster so far. Main things I've seen is that the video camera works very well without crashing. Camera is fast, too. Still has the blue rectangular bar for select text and it seems to come up more reliablly.

I'm sure it will slow down over the next couple days (always does) but most surprising is that the phone now reboots very quickly. Like, sometimes in under a minute.

Default Installed and working great!

I have just completed the upgrade... was long process but finally completed.

I must say that it is a far better upgrade than my previous version .113.

much faster response on entering end exiting programs, switching from portrait to landscape,

I will keep working with it and see if there are any other improvements.....

I finally broke down and did an OS upgrade today. Running .122 now going from .75 so far it's been good. It's definitely faster going from portrait to landscape. Everything else appears to be working, overall faster. I'd say it was worth doing it didn't change the world but the phone is better.

So, to make sure I understand, I download and then delete any blackberry program under add/remove programs on my PC? If so, should I connect USB cable to BB and double click on program. I have never done a beta update so I want to make sure I do it correctly the first time. Thanks!

i did some reading on this proceedure...this OS release does not come from RIM as an installer .exe, so the only way to upgrade would be to locate and copy the updated OS files into the necessary folders, overwriting the current OS files you have installed....
only thing i don't like about this, is it's not a complete package from RIM, so only about 30 MB worth of files will be overwritten, while the others remain the same....

the normal way to update is to install the OS you want to your PC, then open DM, connect the phone, and run the update....

how did you do this ? the copy/paste method ? or were you able to get DM to update your phone ?

i'm running the latest DM and the only update I see available is actually a downgrade to .75, since I'm running .76....

you don't use DM you are supposed to use the Loader.exe located in the AppLoader folder...and if you don't know where that is, you shouldn't be messing with this particular release...

its similar to installing a hybrid, in this case go to your Shared folder and select the latest release you have installed on your phone, replace the CDMA and Java folders and run the Loader.exe and you're set with the new files from the .122 Bell update...

it's not wise using these methods if you're unsure, i didn't mean it to be rude...it's a risk you take when installing these files because one wrong step will mess your phone up...

best of luck
