I went from a 7100t to an 8700g and back to the 7100t before switching to the Pearl. After 2.5 years of being a BB user, I can see how the 87oo's are great BB's, but I'm still loving the Pearl after having it for the last 3 weeks and using it extensively as both a phone and a BB.

Far and away the best BB I've used. This one is definitely a keeper. No more holding a big brick to my face to talk like the wide format BB's. Most of the features I wanted in the form factor of the 71xx series are now addressed. So far i am loving it!

No plans to get rid of it anytime soon. A very cool device.

The percentage of people in here saying they love the 8100 as opposed to those who are sticking with some other BB model confirms and validates by earlier statement:

You just made up " i already know about 23 people who have owned, only 2 whom have kept the 8100" statement. All to stir up some sludge and controversy.

Repent now, fool.

P.s. I hope you don't work for some polling service, but then again, if someone is suffering in the polls, guess they would hire you to broadcast skewed results.

It brought me back to blackberry and I likely wouldn't have bothered to come back for any of the other devices they currently sell. So that's almost like bringing me to BB in the first place.

I have an old 957 that I used for a while for email. I really enjoyed it, but didn't really need the email capabilities - enjoyed them, but didn't need them. It also had a rudimentary browser and some PDA functions, but no phone. I eventually dropped it as I didn't want an extra device hanging around (especially one that size), but now I'm really loving having all of those functions (improved over time) in my tiny Pearl phone!

I'm keeping mine. Used to have the 7105t and I think the Pearl is WAY better. I have no complaints yet. I love it!

i've tested many blackberries. the pearl is my favorite, and i'm all about it! the only thing i wish i could have is the Zen theme with calendar notifications that popup on the mainscreen, not just the little icon thingie in the corner. i'm going to search something up now actually.

PEARL FOR LIFE!

er, until a new cooler one comes out

Definitely keeping it. I'm a 1st time BB user, migrating from the treo 650 and after that, the Nokia E70. The pearl kicks their butts.

I thought I wouldn't be able to deal with suretype, but it rocks. One tip for typing longer messages: use two thumbs as if you're typing on a qwerty keyboard - and DON'T LOOK AT THE SCREEN. It makes typing even faster than a qwerty.

Sorry, never got out of the T-Mo parking lot and returned mine. I will stick with the 8700 till the 8800 arrives. I got to have QWERTY!
I don't mean to pick on this particular poster, but I felt like some words of advice need to be added here for others who are worried that the lack of QWERTY keyboard will be a deal breaker for them.

You can't get proficient enough with Suretype in 5 minutes, or even in the first day, to get a fair assessment of it. If you are going to try it, then commit to trying it for a week and doing some work with practicing typing rather than avoiding it because you don't think it will work well for you (yet).

If you aren't prepared to give that much time to it, then don't waste your time and the time of the salespeople to give it a "quick try" and then turn a brand new device into an "opened box".

Also, most of the T-Mobile stores I've seen around here (I had to visit a few to find a good case) have a working Pearl on display which you can use to try out the typing. You can find as much out there on your own as you can out in the parking lot.

I'm keeping it. I used the 7100t since its release and have been waiting for a phone that was smaller but packed a punch. The form factor and features make the Pearl the best bb out there. Granted, there are a few issues as there are with any new device, but these can all be addressed with OS updates. As for you SureType haters out there, you just need a little practice to understand it how it works. SureType was easy for me to pick up; it's basically the same thing as Predictive Text on my old Nokia. If you've ever used that you can use SureType.

Ya, Im diggin my pearl. Had the 8700g for about 6 months. Loved it. But its nice to have the small sleek package, with more bells and whistles. The people at the t-mobile store also told me that the browser was slower then the 8700, but i havent noticed a huge differance at all in speed actually. And now that im able to hook it up to my macbook as an external modem, I have no complaints. 100% legit!

I like this thread. I don't have one (yet, but my Verizon contract is up soon, and I'm way sick of them). I played with one today at the tmob store, and I like the thing. But one question: how's the battery life? That's important to me. And can you do Bluetooth stereo (I doubt it)?
