The screen is too small.
Lacks the 'cool' factor of the fullsize bb's, at least IMO, you get looked at as having the "sorta" blackberry

Other than that I love it

I love my pearl. Sometimes I think I might enjoy a full size qwerty or better support for email attachments/file formats or a more advanced browser. But those points seem very minor. Overall, I love it and wouldn't have another device.

I think a lot of the stuff is valid, better video capabilities being high on the list. Thing that annoys me most is the smudging on the back, like an ipod does.

However in my opinion, this phone is near perfect for what its basic functionality is: a phone (very clear), a browser (not the fastest, but EDGE is decent), an organizer (its got all the basics), and an SureType input software, which blows away T9. Oh and I forgot to mention small, light, and very sleek looking.

All the other stuff is so insignificant. This truly is a revolutionary Blackberry and the first Blackberry to take a bite out of the consumer market and not just the corporate market.

This is the best one I have ever had...EVER..

Just my opinion. I hope this does come out for you Verizon people because its so worth it!

cool features...but manufacturing is subpar: first pearl had one irritating key that clicked when i pressed it. second pearl would emit a loud screeching randomly (like when you get feedback from holding a mic close to a speaker). third one is working good so far---which ironically, is the only one i've dropped twice on the ground (first time was when i took straight out of the box). cost me $10 each time for shipping. but customer support was very friendly and understanding on both occasions.

My biggest complaint is I can't use the phone as an EDGE modem without using desktop manager (or a script mod on a mac).

I have a Nokia N800 internet tablet that I would love to be able to pair via bluetooth and surf using the EDGE network. No dice.

R.

The snooze option on the alarm is "one and done"-it won't go off a second time , although I understand that this will be corrected in the next SW release.

Couldn't have put it better myself.

Would like a video recorder though.

You asked for complaints and that is the topic of this thread. I'm sorry, I have nothing to contribute.

How does that saying go: "if you have nothing bad to say about something, then don't say anything at all."

2. The battery door always falling off
3. Desktop manager for mac too, I mean what were they thinking of
Apart from that I love it...

" I love my pearl. Sometimes I think I might enjoy a full size qwerty or better support for email attachments/file formats or a more advanced browser. But those points seem very minor. Overall, I love it and wouldn't have another device. "

" only complaint is the keyboard and suretype. Takes me forever to write message. "

The Freedom Universal Keyboard is an external bluetooth folding keyboard that works fine with the Pearl.
It complements the Pearl very well because it allows you to type on a full size QWERTY keyboard with speed and ease and you don't have to rely on Suretype. You also have 10 programmable shortcuts that allow quick access to applications loaded on the Pearl.

Take a look at the new review of this keyboard in the review Forum for further information. During the month of April there is also a discount of 15% for members of the BBF on the keyboard (go to Freedom Input, sponsor for details.

Alternatively, I can help with any questions you may have about this fab accessory.

Best regards,

Chris Macsween.

Ive had every cingular phone imaginable except for BB- this is my first. Ive had the 8525, treo 750, and WM5 device you can imagine or palm. So far this is the best phone I have ever had. The size is perfect- keyboard is weird until youve learned it (and this probably isnt that bad for those who havent had a full qwerty keyboard before)

gripes-
1.) speaker seems a bit low at times and then sometimes it seems to spike up way loud.
2.) camera sucks- but so do most on phones unless you get into nokia devices.
other than that I love this little phone that does everything and more than i need

I have to say this is the best phone I have ever had. The only issues that I have are...

1) Inability to stream video
2) No video camera
3) Dirty pearl
