Default Some thoughts after a weekend of use...

Please Login to Remove!

- I really miss the dedicated @ and . key on the G1. My messages are littered with things like "hanging at the beach for the weekendmmm" and "stevepapplemcom" - Frustrating, but only temporarily.

- I have a lot of 7s to type and I find the alt key and the 7/z key way too small/close together.

But I am quickly coming to love this device very much, now that I found the Google app and can access my life again.

Do you guys have battery drainage issues? My wife has been complaining about her battery and made me buy her an extra one from BlackBerry Curve 8520 Accessories. Is it a phone bug, or does she just need to calm down with all her internet usage/etc... If it's her needing to calm down, I hope she will after she gets over her initial excitement at her new toy.

I have just played with my new 8520 over the weekend and I have few peeves with this unit.

The lack of pre-installed themes, or even variations of the default one

The 1-touch dialing locks you out of using the Q and A keys (the Q switches your profile to Vibrate and back again, The A locks the keyboard) and you can't change that.

The extra volume is a bonus, but I find that people's voices (and mine apparently) sound muffled and is hard to hear.

Overall I like this phone, and as more themes come out it will be more customizeable

If you don't like the amount of themes you have been given for free, then get more.

I notice that I need to charge more often than my old 8700g, but not that much more often. One thing is for apps like Google maps, or other apps, it's better to close them from the menu rather than the escape key. That helped my battery a little, or seemed to.

All new batteries have a break in period. Make sure its charged often for the first two weeks and you will notice longer life.

When she's not using it, have her turn off WiFi...I noticed that I don't have to charge mine as often anymore.

Thank you for that helpful post

I was referring to the fact that the previous models I purchased came with at least 3 different themes to change from, and that at least one of them was able to get rid of the front screen and just show the desktop.

I came to BB from G1 as well and I feel the same way about the keys but its not that hard to adjust to after a while... i still mess up every once in a while but I'm getting used to it.

Only thing I keep doing is hitting $ when i try to hit enter lol
So my messages look like " Hey Bob what's up?$ "
