Question

I got my BB and unlim plan from Cingular back in March.

I guess I am one of the lucky ones who has not been charged for non-BB APN data for things like Ramble, etc. I set up the TCP settings w/ the wap.cingular APN, and so far no charges (knock on wood). I do not use BES.

My question - If I go to the new $34.99 plan from Cingular - will I jinx myself and lose my lucky ability to use the wap.cingular APN for free?

Here is what my current features are:

Cingular Domestic LD $0.00
Cingular Roam LD $0.00
GSM Coverage Area $0.00
BlackberryConnectUNL $44.99
Off-Network Roam $0.00
Rollover FM 550 $0.00
Unlimited N&W $0.00
Multimedia PayPerMsg $0.00
Cingular Direct Bill $0.00
Unlimited Expd M2M $0.00
Upgrade $0.00
Text Messaging 50 $2.99

It's not about luck. The new BIS unlimited is exactly the same as what you have now, just not $45 ($29.99 with voice plan). If you CSR sets your account up correctly, you can use all the data you want (ie:BB Browser, WAP, Email, etc), and should not have to pay anything more than your BISUNL rate.

It shouldn't be about luck but with Cingular you never know.

With Cingular, you just need to be thorough.

Ok - so I took the plunge from 1.8 to 2.0 and now I'm not getting any email at all on the device (neither my mycingular.blackberry.net nor my other POP accounts)

Sending from the BB is just fine.

I have tried sending the service books to the device from the 2.0 web interface - no luck.

Also - now w/ 2.0 - I can't figure out a way to make one of my accounts the "default" for sending mail. How do I tell my BB which account I want to send mail from?

Thanks

I think there may be a problem with the BB servers, because I'm not getting my mail right now either. But don't worry, it should be up and running soon.

Alright - we're getting there...

I'm getting emails again. And I got the new "account-specific" icons on my BB - one for each email account.

Now - how do I tell the device which account I want to be the "default" to send from when I am sending from the main "Messages" icon?

Thanks for all the help so far.

BIS 2.0 allows you to send from each account. If you have a yahoo account for friends, hotmail for the wife and gmail for work, you are able to send from each without confusing who gets what.
If you only want to send and receive from one, then delete the others.

I tried setting up my yahoo account but it wouldn't go through. Is there a trick to it?

so does this mean I can't continue to use my myblueberry account if I switch to the $29.99 plan?

Well, that depends on whether you consider it a surprise to receive a 130 page bill (I kid you not!) like the one I just got in the mail Saturday - with 113 pages of "Data Transfer - $0.00" detail down to the last kb! Can we say "really dumb??"

I do and so does my wife, we broke the 200 (201) Page mark (2 Blackberrys), It was ridicules at less I am on paperless billing or I would of felt bad for my mail carrier. I had to use a box to send it in for reimbursement wouldn't fit in our envelopes.

Cingular gives you the option to sign up for Paperless billing. So essentially, you're killing the trees. I suggest you look into that.

I like this version just wish that the icons for each mail account would have some type of indication for the incoming mail.

When I upgraded to the BIS 2.0 I stopped receiving my Yahoo! email. So I deleted and then tried to reintergrate Yahoo! with no luck. Yesterday, I called cingular data support (1-800-304-3044) and the tech set it up for me manually.

That's the trick!

Angry Any luck for ATTW Customers?

I'm an ATTW original. Cingular Customer Service says I'd have to migrate to the Cingular side to get the plan changed to BIA1 (BBRYBISUNL). They say a new 2-year contract would be required.

I did cancel my wife's account as she got a TMO 8700g data only plan. TMO does not offer phone number transfer to my area code. Their affiliate, iWireless, uses the same towers here as Cingular/ATTW, but IW doesn't offer BB's.

What a mess!

Steve
