Default so is my sim card unlocked or my phone?

Please Login to Remove!

this is the email i got:
"T-Mobile Sim Unlock Request
Sim Unlock Reference: XXXXXXX
IMEI: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Unlock Code: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile. Below you will see the Instructions for unlocking your device.
WARNING: Make sure Wireless Mode is turned off before proceeding with the following steps. Failure to do so may result in the device being damaged.

On the Home screen, click on Options.
Scroll to and select Advanced Options.
Scroll to SIM Card and select it. You should see the phone number and the SIM ID number.
Type MEPD
You will see the 5 categories of locking:
? SIM
? Network
? Network Subset
? Service Provider
? Corporate
6. To unlock Network Personalization hold down ALT and then Press MEPE
7. The device will display ?Enter Network MEP Code?
NOTE: You have 10 attempts to enter the correct code.
8. Enter the code and press the trackwheel.

Thank You,

Sim Unlock Department
T-Mobile USA, Inc."

does this allow me to use any sim card in my phone or my sim card on any phone?
i'm going to go to jamaica and i know they are on a GSM system so i just want to purchase a pre-paid card there and stick in my 8700g to use while i am there.
I know it says "for your device" in the message, but the title says "SIM unlock" which confuses me. anyone care to answer this simple question?
thanks.

It unlocks the device.
Be aware that the pre paid SIM card will give you voice (and probably SMS) but not BlackBerry Services there.

You shouls be fine for SMS ONLY ... But if you want PIN or Email your best bet is to add the international raoming package. Back to No Pre-Paid Data Plan's.
