Did you install Desktop Manager?

Exactly what are you trying to do?

OK. What version of DM? What version of Outlook?

Did you try a battery pull on the BB?

Are you connected the PC via a HUB? BBs do not like HUBs so if that is how you are connected, please plug directly into the PC, preferably to a port on the back of the box.

Yep, what DubDub said. Don't use USB hubs. Apparently people have problems with them (I don't, but I seem to be one of a small group). Also try a different USB port.
If you are still having issues, try refreshing your USB ports, P/C the computer, then retry the BBDM.

The problem I am having is related to USB drivers for the phone itself. There is no problem with Outlook. The driver version I am using is 4.1.0.4. No USB hub although this is plugged into a Belkin Pci-USB card as my onboard USB is dead. I have no problem with using any other USB devices ie my Ipod, cameras, card reader, printers etc...
This is a 8330 for Bell.

Try a different computer to see if the problem is with the device or with the computer.

I wanted to update on this. I was using newer versions of Desktop Manager and now that I cleaned all previous attempts and installed the Nov 12 2007 version 4.3.0.17 I have NP. I know it was a driver compatibility issue all along but was hoping others could point me to a possible "known/common" issue. I said previously I had no issues with other USB devices which was not fully correct. The newest version of Itunes has teh same result for me, my Ipod is not recognized.
Anyway I hope this thread can help someone in the future. Thanks for those who offered assistance.

Default Try removing "hidden" related usb drivers'devices.....

I provide IT support to a small company found that the following has helped me with dealing with conflicting devices, especially usb devices. Eventhough you may delete unknown/conflicting devices from Device Manager, "hidden devices" may still be there causing conflicts. You can do the following and possibly have a better chance of resolving it - let me know....

To get rid of that unwanted driver, device, or service:
1) Open the “Start” menu and choose “Run…”
2) Type in “cmd” (without the quotes) and click “ok”.
3) At the cmd prompt, type in “set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1xxx8243; (without the quotes) and press enter. (Note that nothing seems to happen–this is ok. We are actually setting an environment variable which is going to help us to see hidden devices)
4) On the next cmd prompt line, type in “devmgmt.msc” (without the quotes) and press enter. This will launch the Windows Device Manager Console.
5) In the Device Manager Console, from the “View” menu, select “Show Hidden Devices”.

Now, as you expand the different drivers and devices in device manager you will see not only the items that Windows currently detects as installed on your pc (these are the usual items displayed), but you will also see drivers, devices, and services which have been loaded in the past but were not uninstalled or are not currently started. You can find your offending device, right-click, and choose “uninstall” to remove it from the system completely.

Be careful though; you should note that non-loaded devices, drivers, and services are “grayed” out, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you should delete all of them. Only remove items you know you don’t need. And, be careful that you don’t change too many devices or you might need to re-activate your Windows installation.

Last thing, if you accidentally exit the Device Manager Console you will need to start over again at the cmd prompt. To close the cmd prompt window, type “exit” (without the quotes)
