I jost bought Balackberry 8100 and looking for installing good GPS Navigation softare and good GPS locator. Any suggesstion?

The Maps software that is already installed works pretty good for GPS navigation. I bought a Holux bluetooth GPS receiver, but pretty much any receiver will work fine.

No, there currently is no voice turn by turn software for the 8100.

I use the 236. buygpsnow.com for $75

I have a Globalsat BT-338 which works great! A newer model just came out, it's the Globalsat BT-359W, it's much sleeker and has some minor improvements over mine. $104 at semsons.com

They currently offer a discount of 10% if you use code: Axim10

Google the model number for reviews. With the BT-338, Globalsat essentially set the standard for others to match.

is it really worth it on your phone? i would think one of the dash-mount garmin models that cost around $400 would be a lot better. i know its a lot of money, but nothing will match the speed and features. i just cant see a cellphone be that dependable/useful for regular use. plus, the nicer garmin models will show real-time 3d routing, and they update much faster then a cellphone can.

Sorry but gotta disagree at this point. Service is lame. If you are in in Eurpope too there are choices that are better. Garmin is going to eat Telenav's lunch at the end of the year. Right now I am very happy with www.wayfinder.com and if I can't find the POI I use Google Maps. One time fee only as well.

Depends - one advantage it that the maps are always current. But many people like me don't like multiple devices. I am going to love the 8800 for that reason.

how does telenav work??? It keeps talking about using gps..but there's no built in gps on the blackberry!

Well you can pair a BT puck with the 8100 and get these directions, or use BB Maps. See my tips page on the topic.

$114? Ouch. Check Geeks.com - Computer parts, Laptop computers, Desktop computers, Computer hardware and look at the Bluetooth GPS recievers there. I suspect they'll work just fine. Haven't gotten one myself, but probably will someday soon.

Heck....I had one he** of a bidding war on Sunday evening on ebay for a GPSlim 236b. Wound up paying $80 for it including shipping. Everywhere I looked online was costing more, so I bit the bullet and went above my $75 bidding limit.

you have a point. if the 8800 was in the pearl's form factor (multi-tap is fine) then it would be ultimate. but for me, id rather trade in the wifi and other features to use the pearl.

ive also concluded that i dont need gps for a time-critical business. i dont have to have a super-fast gps to direct me on every citi-block turn. once and awhile i just want to know where i am and where im going, and this cell-phone gps seems perfect.

How can I get Blackberry maps on the Pearl? It says it is not compatible with version 4.2 software on the pearl when I try installing it.
