I downloaded the desktop software from the disck and when I plug the ubs in the DTM says that it is disconnected and in the options connections it says the USB is not detected

BlackBerrys do not do well with USB hubs and the like. If you are using a hub or keyboard or monitor USB port, try other ports, specifically ports on the computer.

You may also want to look at KB00125-BlackBerry Desktop Software cannot detect the BlackBerry smartphone if you haven't already.

Thanx I actually got it to work ! I kept getting the message make sure the device is inserted correctly So Im thinking how can it be wrong ? So I tilted the computer over from back to front to look for another usb port & low & behold when I reinserted the usb plug it work and is recognized .
