Question Multiple Calendars?

Please Login to Remove!

I work for a Massage Therapist and we both have the blackberry. He'd like to sync a group calendar onto our blackberry's but I have no idea how to proceed with this. I'm trying to find a software that would allow us to update our calendar onto our blackberry's like you would with a PALM from the computer. Does anyone here have any suggestions/solutions they can offer us?

If you are looking to be able to sync your blackberry calendar with a computer you have two options..
1) Use the USB cable and do a sync with outlook
2) If you want to be able to sync without having to use the USB cable and be able to have it sync all the time, you should look into the BIS system.. It works really well for syncing calendar, contact, notes and email with outlook over the air..

I'm still learning how to use my blackberry. So if I use Outlook to manage appointments for two therapists, I can just upload them onto my phone using USB cable? Do I have to have a software installed on my blackberry to view this?

As for BIS, do I have to pay for the data connection to use it? Our phones are through cingular.

How the synchronization works ... basically everything in your Outlook calander will be reflected on your Blackberry.

Blackberry does not need any additional software installed onto the handheld for this to work.
You will need Blackberry Handleld Software to be installed on your computer in order to snych.

In addition, with BIS no data connection is required.

Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for your help!

You can find it here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...c3b03f6d12c6TR. The latest version (4.1) should work for you. Be sure to choose the Internet E-Mail option during the install.

Sorry if I seem like an idiot, but it's obvious I am not knowledgable on the Blackberry yet. But what is "BIS" and how do I get it or access it. We took off the data feature from our blackberry, will this affect what I want to accomplish?

Ok I downloaded the Blackberry Desktop Manager 4.1, I have Microsoft Outlook 2003. When I try to connect to the desktop it asks to add application, but what do I add? Confused.

In the Desktop Manager double-click on IntelliSync
A dialog box should appear, click on Configure PIM
Highlight Calandar
On the right of the dialog box, does it say MS Outlook?
If not, click the Choose button and select MS Outlook.

Hope that works

Pooky:

Do you have multiple caladars setup within Outlook?
For example, one sub-calandar for yourself and a second sub-calandar for your Associate?

If this is the case, the Blackberry will only synchronize events made in your Main calandar. Events created in sub-Calandars will not synchronize with Blackberry.

You're kidding...well that kind of sucks. :( Would be nice if they can come up with a solution where I can have the sub calendar sync into our BB's.

I'm having a new problem. It was syncing just fine onto my BB. Once I did it for his phone, it won't sync onto my phone any longer. Has anyone run into this problem?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong ... but I think you can only sync one (1) device.

I remember trying to do the same thing with my Windows PC phone and ran into the same problem you're encountering.

Maybe someone else can comment on this, but the only work around would be via BES (Blackberry Enterprise Server)

How much does it cost to use a hosted BES server?

I am currently using Windows Mobile 5 devices (I switch between my Qtek 9000 and 9100) with a hosted MS Exchange server. I am able to synchronize over the air with push email, calendar, contacts, and tasks. I don't know if that is the same way that the BES works but I really like this as it is.

As I understand though, with Exchange there can definitely be multiple users sharing calendars and anything that I do not want shared with other users I would mark as private, hiding it from their view. Now, I don't use this right now so I can't explain more, but maybe someone can explain what BES might provide that this does not (or the other way around).
