I have a quick question about the allowing outgoing calls option when on the BES. When we use this option will it also allow us to use the address book or is this locked. We would like to be able to use the phone and the address book with having to enter the password. Any information would be helpful I have a meeting with IS today.

If you allow your users to make outgoing calls while the device is locked they still cannot access the Address Book. They would have to unlock the device to get into that app.

If that is the case is there any way to password protect specific applications such as email? Basically we are trying to gain the use of the phone,and addressing book without having to enter the password, but would still like to protect email etc.

Not that I am aware of (at least not out of the box with the Berry). There may be 3rd party software that does it. Seems there was another thread around here somewhere that talked about password protecting email....

ACTUALLY! Here's a problem that I am dealing with:

On BES IT policy is set to True for "Allow Outgoing Calls...", but it does not acutally set the value to "Yes" on every device. Its wierd!

All units are 7520's and the same OS--4.1

That's true...the policy allows it, but the device still has to have the option set to 'Yes'.

Yea, guess its a bug---thing RIM would have noticed and addressed this since its been outstanding since 4.0-

Let me know if you find a fix...

Also, in the past I was able to also allow calls from the address book while locked. However, not anymore!!!! Any clues?

where do you do that? is this just for 4.1?
