Keyboard Logging
Please Login to Remove!
I have a Blackberry Bold 9000. I am wondering if there is a key logger that I can install that will automatically send to an email account the user input on the device.
Some of co-workers think it is funny to come in my office and screw with my phone. They even send text/bbm's to random people who then msg me back with "WTF", but never tell me what is said since they delete the info. They also send emails to people and disable my auto BCC since I am not using BES.
Any help would be great.

Simple solution: take your BlackBerry with you. That will stop the problem, right?

Not so easy. Company policy dictates that I am not allowed to have the phone during meetings due to distractions. Also, the password must be left generic as all employees have the same password so IT can troubleshoot a problem should one arise.

Nice security. Why bother with the password then.
Got a locked drawer?
There are no password loggers that I am aware of.

I call BS.
No IT department would ever do this. Simply ridiculous.

I wish I was joking. When I was given the phone I was told "Do not change the password as it must be left as is".
I was then talking to another co-worker so asked about the passwords and turns out his is the same as mine as is a few other co-workers I deal with.
The password is on the device, simply because the company doesn't want information from it being accessed should I lose it.
We have a small office. Only 20 people working here. I think 13 of us have BB's. It is only so I can check email/call client when on the road.

Hmm... That's very strange that your IT department would do that. But as NJ said, your best bet would be a locked drawer.

I too thought it was weird that our IT Dept would do that. But, because most of the people here can't use a computer, let alone a BB, the IT dept spends half the day troubleshooting people's bb's. By having a generic password on the, it is much easier to provide support while a co-worker is in a meeting than having to grab the pw and then go through the process.
I do not have a locked drawer. I might just silence all and bring it with me in my pocket.

First complain to your boss or superior about this as ringer suggested and if anything is not done, do this as a last resort.

To the OP, if you are not using BES as you said in the first post, what is to stop you from changing the password? How would the IT dept. even know?
IMO, this doesn't quite add up.

You'd be surprised the number of times my BB messes up and our IT dept (who is also in charge of troubleshooting our bb) needs to use my phone.
I've had issues where it automatically wiped out, etc.
I was also told by the IT dept that we cannot change our passwords. This was in an email that was sent from an upper manager.
Also, if I am somewhere and my boss/collegue needs to use my phone, they can do so with ease since the password in generic.
When I was given the phone, I had a huge list of things that I had to do and could not change.

Can you set the ringer to "Off", bring the phone to the meetings and if questioned by anyone, explain the problem?

If you are not on a BES, there is no way they can do those things unless they have your phone in their hands. If you are with someone that needs to use your phone, then you can enter the password and hand it to them to use.
Still doesn't make sense to me...
