Hello, just completed downloading os 4.5 0 1 87, all ok except 'maps' icon has gone. DM 6 backed up and reinstalled all other apps and messages well.
i have been to 'status' and done the test, it finds Sats and my position ok.
under advanced options; maps, it says default service 'none'
All was working well before the upgraded os.
Any suggestions appreciated.
i have no data plan, Asda Mobile. 8310 curve.

Maps require service book I believe, from OS4.5 on. So you need a blackberry plan. correct me if I am wrong

i see from my 'Applications' 'Blackberry Maps' 4.5.0.
i have a 'mapping application for BB'. version 4.5 with 3 modules, net_rim_bb_lbs, then _api then _resource_en.

i have never had a BB plan and it worked before on OS 4.2, i have a supermarket sim. I got the impression it was downloading maps live, not from a data base in the phone.

It is downloading maps live, via a data connection.
With OS 4.5 a blackberry data plan is required to use blackberry maps.
Asda do not offer this.

Thanks for your replies, I have now tried downloading Google maps. It is on my SD card saying GoogleMaps.sisx 1.5MB.
I can't seem to do anything with it, if i press open, it says 'unable to display file'
Anyone got any ideas please?

.sisx is a nokia file, it won't load on a blackberry.
You need a .jad or .alx, as you won't be able to download it over the air to get the correct version.

OOO right, thanks. Any idea how i get the right file please? i usually have more success downloading new apps to my computer first, then using download manager.
OTA always seem to go wrong.
Google Help offers a desktop version, says download it 'here' then when you get 'there', nothing is there GGRRRRRR.

Unfortunately Google only seem to do direct downloads by visiting here:
m.google.com/maps

But I'm unsure it will work because you don't have a blackberry data plan to be able to use the blackberry browser.

True. Must use native BlackBerry browser to do OTA installs. No can do with aftermarket browser.

I tried amAze too, all installed very easily via desk top manager,
I just get green rectangle chasing then 'communication problem' when trying to start. I am waiting for a reply from amAze now. Won't be holding my breath.lol. C.

Right, finally got Google maps .alx file from the Google enterprise site if anyone else is interested, and is now working well on my 8310 curve, took me all day. Grrrr. I notice i seem to have lost MGMAPS along the way.
