Cingular 8700c

My contact at Cingular informed me that their 8700 will be the 8700c, with a custom form factor and design. He said the planned launch date from Cingular is early November. Attached is a photo.

I am looking forward to the 8700...as are many others.....but I have to agree with SUFan.....that is butt ugly. The black would look soooooo much better.

The 8700 in this pic looks like the same phone in the first live 8700 pics posted last month. The quality and size of the pic is not so great, makes it look primer colored. If you don't like the custom Cingular model you can always get an unlocked 8700 in black.

Yes, I would tend to agree that black is it. It will stand out as a lasting color in combination with the right keypad color too. This BB8700 launch is worth waiting for and I'm getting one to check it out when it surfaces. I believe with all the talk about it being faster, it will be more appealing for surfing. At the moment after switching to handheld software 4.0.2, it's already much faster for my BB7290.

I used one a few weeks ago and it didn't seem that bad to me at the time. I dunno, the photos posted by jibi just don't look good to me....the two tone case, the keyboard colors, its like there is too much going on....oh well, I'll still get one.

I wish I could demo one. I'm not too keen on the case color but at least it ain't Cingular orange. I'm glad I held back on getting that 7100g. The 8700 looks like it will scratch my itch.

I think this wierd-a$$ gray colored Cingular one is so freaking ugly, but the other one we've seen (the all black one) is so beautiful it's almost hard to believe they're the same device. I'm still holding out some small measure of hope that this info is incorrect and Cingular will have the black one, but otherwise I too will be looking for an unlocked black one on eBay in a few months.

See, that black colorway (which I'm assuming will be the Rogers/T-Mobile/unlocked) is so startling beautiful, and shall in my opinion sway many a Treo user over to the "enlightened" portion of the wireless community and Blackberry.
I must say, with the specs the 8700 is stated to have (EDGE, smaller size but still a traditional QWERTY keypad and apparently upgraded OS, UI and PIM apps *crosses fingers*) this thing will positively blow both the Treo and some recent Windows Mobile 5 devices out of the water.
Long live BB. And may the BB 8700 GSM be released sometime in early January in the black colorway, so that when I have a sizable bonus from Mr. Sam it will available for purchase!
Quick question on that note: will previous incarnations of RIM apps work on this OS on the 8700? Is that much of a upgraded OS or will everything be compatible (PocketDay, PIM's apps, VeriChat, etc).
Thanks.

Jibi,
Thanks for the detail pics!
--------------
Does anyone who might be "in-the-know" aware weather RIM will package this new device with thier traditional (awesome in my opinion) plastic holster, or might they be (mistakenly in my opinion) contemplating going with that fabric "it'll-fall-out-if-you-bend-over" holder (note that I did not classify that one as a 'holster') that was so imfamously issued with the 7100 series (what cr#p that was!!)?
Also I'm hoping that unlike the 7100 color screen that this will be sunlight readable?!
Regards,
Dave

Orange and Black
C'mon Cingular - let's have a Halloween launch. What the heck is this grey stuff. In terms of holsters, whatever they provide, I hope a leather model will come too or the 72xx can work. That was the best I have used. Yeah I'd like black too, but the features will be too great to resist. I never did get used to suretype on my 7100. I got tired of see vs are, and am ready to move on.

Not an expert on business tactics but I'm sure once the novelty of the 8700 starts to wear off Cingular will release it in Black. Pretty much the same thing with the razr phone.

To me, it looks like it will fit in the regular OEM leather holster.

If you read MrH's comment in the '8700 sighting(?)' thread, he decribes the physical size...

If anything it was the same width/length and thinner.

I try to avoid offtopic "me too" posts in the wrong forum, but I can't help it. I AM SO SICK OF THE SURETYPE ERRORS AND POOR 7100 PERFORMANCE I THINK I'M GOING TO BLOW!
OK, sorry. I'm done. Thanks.

I'm gonna pile on on this one too. I switched from a 7100 to a Treo 650 b/c of this. I'm definitely going to check out the 8700...
