Simply swapping the SIM card is not sufficient. You need to contact Sprint / Nextel and :
1. Add some sort of data plan
2. Give them the IMEI / Ser # / and Sim ID
3. Get a login for the BIS and send the service books to the phone. Otherwise, the tech can also refresh the service books AFTER the phone is properly activated and a data plan has been added.
