Default Emails moved to PST folder, not moved in BB?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi guys,

Quick question for ya all.

I'm running BES 4.1.2 on Exchange. When a user moves emails to her PST folder which is stored in the C:\ drive. The Blackberry couldn't detect that the emails have been moved and won't remove it from its inbox. Is there a way to change that so it removes the emails that have been moved to PST folder in outlook? Thanks.

The only way is for the user to run Desktop Manager and define the PST in that and sync handset to PC via DTM.

PST's - I hate them.

But I thought DTM is no longer needed with BES4?

I hate PST too, but our company have our mailbox set to 100Mb and space runs out pretty quick.

How do you think the BES be able to see a PST file on the C: drive of a users PC without the DTM?

Still need the DTM for PST's I am afraid. I suggest you start looking at email archiving alternatives to PST's

You're right Sp!ke. I had to set the Personal Folder in DTM and have the user plug it in and reconcile messages manually. It's kind of annoying but if that's what the user wants then that's fine.

Still strange how BB doesn't detect that the messages have been moved to the PST folder.

The BES works by tracking where a message is moved to by using reference ID's if you move a message into a PST file the BES cannot access an offline PST file stored on the users pc. Therefore it does not know where the message went to. You can try enabling hard delete support. This creates a state database for the last X number of email messages it has seen in ram to try and better track the messages that just "disappear" from Exchange. Since this is kept in ram only if the server is shutdown it starts over again with the last X number of messages.

I don't think this is true. Mine works fine. I can delete the message from my inbox, hard delete it without moving it to the deleted items, or drag and move it down to my local PST folder. In all three cases, the email message disappears from the blackberry message list.

Under the BlackBerry inbox, open the "Options" --> "General Options". I think by default "Hide Filed Messages" is set to "No" change it to "Yes". This worked in our Domino environment when a message was moved to a folder.

Agreed... On BES our BES 4.1.2 we turned on hard delete support option and my BB stays in sync with messages moved directly to .PST - as exchange sees that action as a hard delete. I've only be testing for a few days but behavior is described as above.
