Set the reminder when you create the appointment - scroll down to Reminder and set the amount of time before the appointment that you want to be reminded

What are you calling a reminder?

If you have set a calendar alert in profiles to vibrate or a tone, you should get whatever alert at the appropriate time the reminder is set in the calendar appointment. And there are separate in-holster and out-of-holster settings.

And there is also a window that opens when the reminder activates, asking the user to dismiss, snooze, etc.

What is not working for you? And is it because something was not set, like the profile alert?

Well on my old 8900 a pop up appeared asking if i wanted to dismiss or snooze and it also vibrated. On my new singing all dancing 9700 its not doing this.
Probable me I guess but dont know how to set this alert up.

Try a hard reset . . . With the power on, remove the battery for at least 30 seconds. ... Then test.

I don't think it is you, exactly. You have experience with blackberrys. There's nothing really out of the ordinary with the 9700 in this regard.

But just to review and make sure it isn't you: You create the appointment in calendar. You set the reminder for 5 minutes. Show time as is set to busy (not that I think it matters). You've double checked your alert settings for calendar [b]for the profile you are using[b/]. And still no joy?

If that's the case, I wonder if you have some third-party app that is messing with the notification..... maybe preventing the notification from popping up, or causing it to disappear as soon as it pops up..... Just speculating .... or maybe your profiles database is corrupted and that is somehow messing with the calendar notification. ..... again just speculating.

Maybe try clearing you profiles database using desktop manager, do another hard reset, and then test.

Also, maybe try a security wipe, and select to remove all third-party apps. Do a backup first. Then, after the wipe, test the calendar alerts/notifications again and see what happens. If all is good, then restore your data and test again. If all is good, then add back your third-party apps one at a time, and test in between.

Lastly, maybe wipe the device with JL_CMDER and then reinstall the OS. Again, backup beforehand. Test the calendar first thing after reinstalling the OS and before restoring any data or apps.

Or, maybe wait and see what others say, see if anybody has better ideas. If it were me, I think I'd backup and try the security wipe to start with, and then test.
