Arrow Knowledge Sharing - How to quickly activate a BlackBerry

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

Just thought want to share this method. Enterprise Activation actually consists 2 major parts:-

(1) BES Service Enabling
(2) Slow Sync - PIM Items like Calendar, Address Book, Task and Memo etc.

I found that by taking off the PIM items synchronization for Address Book, Task and Memo prior to the activation 100% have my devices activated within 15 minutes. Of course I'm talking about a healthy mail file size to start with.

To disable those PIM items after you have created a new BES account, just go to the BAS web admin console and edit the user. Next click on the Default Configurations and go to the Organizer Data Synchronization tab.

For each of the Address Book, Tasks and Memos, set the field Synchronization turned on: to "No". Click on Save All to save the changes. Then proceed to activate your device. After your device is activated, go back to those configuration and set the field Synchronization turned on: back to "Yes". Allow some time for these items to get synchronized.

Hope this helps!

Can't you turn off Wireless sync in the general category (top) and not have to go change each option? That is how I've done it -- it saves a few clicks... Also doesn't calendar wireless sync have to be turned off from the device?

FYI - You can disable PIM sync from a BlackBerry too... Options -> Advanced Options -> Enterprise Activation -> hold 'ALT -> type cnfg

*Pearl users, remember to use multitap

Note: If you use this method to enable wireless PIM sync from the BlackBerry it will initiate a slow sync.
