Default Who is onboard for a Voice Recorder for 8100

Please Login to Remove!

I am looking into a making a voice recorder app for the 8100. Who is onboard. I have a regular job, and this will destract me for a few days, so I will have to charge a small fee for it. Who is interested?

I cannot believe that RIM does not have this app already. This would make the Pearl complete for me. With 1GB of memory, I can store an entire multi hour meeting without any problem (as long as the battery would last of course)

Yep, every phone I've ever had this feature except the Pearl - it comes in handy to remind yourself of things sometimes. On previous phones I could even record the person I was talking to if I wanted while on the phone with them... what gives.

I have to carry a Palm or any other voice recorder, because I have to record short meetings (usually ten to fifteen minutes) for legal reasons (all parties know they are being recorded). The built in Voice Note program will only record for one minute, and then it will only email the document. I sure it is not saving anything to the memory card either. It would be so simple to expand the functionality of this app, I cannot for the life of me understand what RIM was thinking. Motorola's, Palm (Handspring) have had this very handy function for years.

Default I'm there

Sign me up for a voice recorder.

Since I'm using my left nut, my arms and legs, $20 on the table as a motivator.

All I'm looking for is an app. that will record the current call without beeping (that interferes with the conversation), and can handle.. oh say... up to 20 mins total per call.

Help me dump all my phones and go to just one!

If you really want RIM to add this, also contact your carrier. The carriers set a lot of the feature set, and their voices are very powerful.

Default Spoke with RIM about a Voice Recorder Option

I just spoke with a represenative from RIM's desktop & handheld group about whether or not there was a voice recorder option for the Pearl. Their answer was no: there is currently nothing in the works. They suggested emailing the request to: bbsuggestions at rim dot com.

As an aside - I also just got my 2GB microSD card (SAN disk) working with my Pearl - it required upgrading to (in my case the 4.2.0.64 version of code).

When I was in major litigation I used a dedicated voice recorder quite a bit. I found the recorder essential because in 24/7 litigation one comes up with ideas, strategies and other thoughts at all hours of the day or night.

I would love to see a voice recorder on the Pearl. Maybe some third party [or you] will indeed come up with a program? Can't be all that difficult since it's simply a matter of programming inasmuch as the necessary hardware components are on the phone [mic, switches, storage medium, room on the phone's flash memory, etc.].

Query: My T-Mo phone [and maybe others] has the "Send A Voice Note" program. When I click it says to record. I do this then it asks if I want to "Send As MMS."

My question is this: Does T-Mo charge for these MMS messages, or are they included in my $20 data/BB plan? I recall tinkering with this about two months ago, only once. That month's bill included a $2.20 charge for what I assume was the text messages I was trying out. Maybe that included a charge for the one MMS message I sent?

If there is no charge, seems pretty easy to send myself voice notes, as a kind of workaround for not having a voice recorder. But I definitely am not going to pay .20 cents a message for such.

If no one knows, guess I can call T-Mo, but based on other posts, calling T-Mo may not give me the correct answer.

As mentioned on another reply, the SE 616, & t68i, had this feature built in, and was very handy to record phone numbers while driving etc....Im very interested, willing to pay a nominal fee for it!

What did you do and how did it work (ie MMS, email?) and could you hear it?

just record an mms and save it as a draft, it works just like a voice memo. I might pay to make this feature a little more convenient than it currently is, I wouldn't pay much though.

I've used this option in the past.

A dedicated voice recording app however would come in handy.

honestly, it would seem that RIM would likely expand on their voice notes application and make the option available to save it to local memory or memory card. i wouldn't think this would be all that complicated for them. with that said, if you are wanting to develop a freeware application, most would gladly accept it. i think asking any dollar amount would ultimately end in a few bucks made, at the very most. of all the people on here who said they'd pay, you may get 2-3 sales.
