Default "Set Send As Permission Tool"

Where can I download the BES Resource Kit Version 4.1 SP2, which contains the "Set Send As Permission Tool" as outlined in the document "Updating your Blackberry Environment to Support DST 2007 Changes"? I am thinking this tool still won't fix the "Protected Group" phenomenon?

it wont fix it but you need to have a support contract with RIMM and login to the site and download it from there

It'll be available to the public in the next week or so, most likely. You'll be able to grab it from here:

since it's updating AD, i would imagine it would need Administrative (Domain Administrators, Exchange Administrators, etc) permissions. just a hunch, although i haven't used it myself.

I tried to run this from exchange 2003 box, DC, and finally BES server with the same error. I:m just trying to run this against my test account to see if its going to add send as permission to the account. It;s really sad that RIM does not provide more info except to say to just run it

Agreed. I'm trying to find out if I can use it in a problem I'm solving. I'm unsure if the problem is permissions related and hoped this could either fix it if it is, or confirm it's not the problem if it isn't. Typical RIM, all the technology and none of the information. Could be worst, Microsoft have all the info, but can't convey it so humans can understand!!!

Anyone get this to run properly? Be nice if I could just give this to my exchange admin and say run it - but I want to be sure it works first.

I too am having trouble getting this tool to run. Pretty sure the account has all necessary permissions...a guide on this tool would be pretty nice.

is the database name it is asking for in the command switches the blackberry database and network name of that server, or the Active directory/exchange database? There is absolutely NO documentation on this tool at all. Beyond frusterating. I've been on hold with t-support trying to get through for 1 hour and 15min.

After banging my head against a wall and using dsacls tool etc with no luck This tool however worked a treat!

I ran this tool from a desktop machine logged in as an administrator and used the following command

c:SetSendAsPermission -a Domain\Besadmin -u [email address]

Give it 5mins for permissions to replicate around and it should be ok

What syntax are you using? I haven't used the tool, but looking at its help there are various options for changing one user, a list of users, or all users on the BES.

The tool is just an automated tool to grant the Send as permission for the BESAdmin account on those BlackBerry Users. I personally does not like this tool at all. Firstly the tools isnt so easy to use and it only grant those permission to existing BlackBerry Users. In future when you add new users to the BES the new user will not have the Send As permission.

There is a new video that is release by RIM to grant the Send As permission from the ADUC. I would prefer granting it from AD and from the Domain level.

If you want the video go to this url:
ww.blackberry.com/blackberrytraining/web/SendAs/Source/video/sendAs.html
