I am not a gawd, but there will be no 4.2 for the 7100 series. 4.2 will only be released for BlackBerrys with 64MB of RAM. And the 7100/7105 have 32MB.

The bubble should be considered burst. You will not see 4.2 for the 7105.

I believe it is "rotten in Denmark" - lifted (and bastardized) from Hamlet

In a little while...like before april... I'm running it (4.2.1.42) on my 8700 and it looks like there's still a few little wrinkles on it.. like the green flashing "on" LED just not being there..

took me a while to get to grips with not unlocking wih a double tap on the trackwheel too, but going "green" then "*".

For me the major improvement is having SMS as a seperate "icon/folder" so if you've got an unread SMS then it shows with a star against that folder rather than just being buried in the in-box. That alone for me is worth the upgrade hassle..

It's standard on 4.2 software to have it default to off. You can turn it off in the "Screen/Keyboard" option under your options/settings.

When you find out let me know. There is a beta floating around, but I have yet to be able to get my hands on it.

You can't, yet. I wouldn't expect it until the luster of the 8800 has worn off.

i'm kicking tires on a new 8820. one of the coolest new features i saw in owner's guide is "Record and send a voice note." looks like speaker/sender can talk for about a minute. i've recorded two and followed instructions to Send as MMS (whatever that means). each time the handheld fiddled around, but eventually instead of getting a check for sent the message displayed an X for failure. disappointing. the recording is there for me, and i can play it back, but i cannot send it out of the 8820 to a recipient

Default Alltel has a version for the 7130e

From the BlackBerry.com site, you can go to the vendor download page and download version 4.2.1 for the 7130e (http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support...oad_sites.jsp).

Be sure to delete the vendor.xml file before installing the OS on the handheld if you use another carrier.

Default Voice notes?

I just installed 4.2 on my 8703e but don"t see an option for Voice Notes anywhere. Can someone help show me the way?

Thank you in advance.
