There is nothing official about iDEN being sold to the DOJ. It is an "option" but nothing else.

I'm fairly sure that they will bring out more phones before 2008.

im sure that they will still call it Sprint Nextel just to prevent any possible conflict with the majority of their customers because their "love" of Nextel. Theyll probably just take everything from Nextel and move it to the Sprint CDMA network without publicly announcing (ie tv ads) it or something like that. Then they can do what they want with the iden network.

Now.... thats just my theory.

I went to a blackberry training a week ago for Nextel (iDen)

This new BB is scheduled to come out in November of this year. And the main feature that makes it different is that it operates on solar power to conserve energy. So when ur in the sun, the solar power will take over the battery life.

And what theyre anticipating is that u will only need to charge ur bb like every week or so.

The iDen BB will actually incorporate a flux capacitor to allow the unit to go back to the future - thereby alleviating the need to ever charge or replace the battery. Also great for making missed deadlines.

Cool It is Coming!!!!!

I was at a trade show in Vegas this past week and spoke with the nextel rep there and he confirmed that Nextel will introduce an 8700 model BB on the iden network this winter.

I dunno, this doesn't sound as crazy as you guys are joking about.... I mean, it's not like we're talking about new technology or anything. $5 calculators have been able to do this for decades. It's a little unprecedented, but it would be a cool feature!

What's more farfetched, an iden 8700 with some solar capability or an iden 8700 in the first place?

Here is a link that reiterates what I said earlier - no iDEN 8700.
