i prefer the 71xx design over the 8700. i have a 7105 and have no complaints about suretype or any other features, i just want the faster processer and network.

I spoke to someone from TMobile yesterday who actually recommended buying the 7130c unlocked and calling them up for configuration. Interesting...

I have been a longtime Nokia owner and was never a real BB fan until this 7130 arrived on the scene. I absolutely love it. I hope the reason why the 7105t is $99 is because they are clearing inventory for the 7130.
Obviously they are going for $399 unlocked on ebay, but I would rather use my upgrade and get one TMO branded.
Here's hoping we hear some positive news soon!

i agree...i just hope they don't release it (if it happens) too far ahead of payday...it will just make the days go that much slower.

Anything new on this? I got an email back from TMO yesterday saying they have some new handsets to be released in the next few weeks but do not see the 7130.
Looks like it probably won't be coming.

i know it's already been said, but honestly. i don't think it's ever going to happen.
I went into a T-mobile store today and drilled the people there to find out if it was in the near future, and they suggested buying it unlocked, like other's have posted. It's sad, but I am really doubting that they will ever release a 7130...because they are calling the sidekick III the substitute.//////
grrrr TMO.

i don't know if i believe t-mobile would use a sidekick as a substitute for a blackberry. they're hardly comparable.

I completely agree that they are non comparable, but thats just what the TMobile Rep said...if it is TMO's true intention that the Sidekick III is the 7130 substitute.....TMobile has some issues to work out. because then for those who want a phonelike blackberry with Suretype....they get stuck with the 7105 which doesn't have EDGE..and therefore is a waste to buy at this point. unless of course you reaaaaally love Suretype phones

Not sure if Tmo will carry 7130
I found a link on phone scoop dot com for the 7130.
( I tried to include the link, but it won't let me because I am a newbie)
If you go down to the FCC ID and click on the L6ARBA40GW link it takes you straight to the FCC's site with RIMs official filings for the 7130 which were approved May 2, 2006. Click on Details and you will find the interesting stuff including some good internal and external pictures.
What caught my eye was the official manuals that were submitted. Manual 1 is the general users guide for the 7130. The remaining manuals, 2, 3 and 4 hold the secret. Manual 2 is for the 7130c Product and Safety Information guide while Manual 3 is for the 7130g and Manual 4 is for the 7130v. There is NO 7130t!!!
These manuals are the same ones on RIM's tech support page for the 7130.
It seems to me that if they were going to release a 7130t, they would have submitted the manual with the others! What do you think??

I somewhat agree. They still list T-Mobile as tentative on phonescoop, but I don't think its coming and I am not about to spend $399 for it, when I have seen them online with a Cingular plan for $99.
Oh well...

I just talked to my tmo guy and he mentioned to interesting items.
Tmo has a new phone coming out soon code named Magenta. He thought it was a Blackberry device, but didn't have any other details which were very hushhush.
They were also expecting a new Blackberry compatable device from samsung that is in the flip phone form factor.

Tmo Pipeline
There is a new BlackBerry comming out in late September. they have not said any model numbers but they are having trainings next week hosted by RIM emp. they have not said if they will cover the new device. RIM has been saying "the new device will blow your socks off" but nothing more. Tmo emp. are not informed of new devices until at most 1-2 months ahead of the release date.

FWIW I sent an email to my Tmo business rep and this is what he said:
Hi James,
We won't be carrying the 7130. It has come off our road map. We will have another similar device coming at the end of this quarter, it's called the BlackBerry 8100.

T-Mobile Europe is releasing the 7130g at some point soon. As mentioned earlier, T-Mobile US backed off the 7130g here in the states and is working on the "Stealth" (camera, removable memory, etc) mentioned in quite a few other threads here.
