Hi, I have the Blackberry 8300 Curve and am with Rogers here in Canada. I'm heading to Tokyo and Taipei next week for work until the end of the month and need to have my work emails accessible instantly at any time, given the time difference.

What is the most cost efficient way for me to receive my emails while I am abroad? I don't need the BB for use as a regular phone, so I don't need a voice plan. Wifi and turn off my mobile network manually? Pay Rogers for an overseas roaming plan?

Wifi might work but its not instantaneous and since you have a 8300, I don't think you have wifi.

The 8300 won't work at all in Japan.
