Default Hard Reset

Please Login to Remove!

If I do a hard reset, do I lose my applications, i.e., Blackberry Alerts, etc.? Also, where is the hard rest button on the 8700g?

Nope, pulling the battery and rebooting is one of the best things you can do for your BB.

There is no hard reset button. With the BB device powered, remove the battery cover, pull the battery, hold 20-30 seconds and replace.

Done.

Default No Luck!

I have removed the battery, waited a minute, turned the BB back on and I still have my contacts and my appointments? I thought that a hard reset would give me a clean slate?

Nope, to have a clean slate you need to "wipe your device"

Default Wipe My Device?

And so, how do I wipe my device? I want to clear everything off the BB and then restore from my MS Outlook.

Default Clarification?

I followed your instructions, but when I got to the "wipe" part I realized that I would also be losing my applications. I just want to clear the contact and the appointments off the BB, how do i do just that? Sorry to be so dense!

Default Hard REset

The only way would be to use the Backup/Restore feature on the Desktop software.

Click on advanced features and then delete the database tables for the messages, contacts and etc.

I was able to clear up all the data on my old BB before I gave it to someone else.

Hope this helps.

If you do a wipe from the device I don't think it touches 3rd party apps.

Go to Options -> Security Options -> General Settingd -> Click + Wipe Handheld.
This will clear ALL personal data (emails, memos, calendar, etc), but should leave 3rd party apps.
