Default 9700 not syncing to my computer.

Please Login to Remove!

I am with T-mobile with a Blackberry 9700 v5.0.0.330 (Platform 5.1.0.91)

I am having difficulty syncing my device to my computer.

I am running Vista 32 bit on a Dell Inspiron 1525.

I have downloaded Desktop Manager 5.0.1 B49 MultiLanguage - Without Media Manager and cannot get it to sync.

I cannot find the appropriate driver through the device manager either.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Ok. First, what are you trying to sync with (Outlook ...?) and have you configured the sync setup in desktop manager?

My apologies for not being clear.

My computer recognizes the device but from the Found New Hardware prompt, nothing gets the computer to recognize the device for the purpose of importing pictures, music, apps, etc to my phone.

In the desktop manager it shows that there is no device plugged in.

Open options > memory. Turn on media card support and mass storeage mode. Connect again and you should see the media card in windows explorer. Then you can drag and drop files.

When you downloaded the desktop software, you executed it, right? And you connected the device as directed, and so forth? (Sorry, have to ask.) Did that complete? Any errors?

Assuming you intalled desktop manager successfully, when you connect the blackberry, does it connect to desktop manager? If not, try a battery pull. (With the power on, remove the battery for about half a minute.) If you still have trouble, try different usb ports. In particular do not use a hub or keyboard usb.

Yes, the software downloaded successfully. I have Desktop Manager and Media Sync on my computer.

I did a couple battery pulls and connection re-tries in different usb ports. It always recognizes that it is a RIM composite device, but Desktop Manager does not recognize that the device is plugged in.

Thank you for your assistance.

The problem was user error.

I simply had to choose Universal Serial Bus controllers from the Device Manager menu, and the second time through that process it read the device as a Blackberry Smartphone.

Thanks again.

Good deal. I don't even remember doing that. Don't think I did. But glad you got it working.
