Ran the AT&T loader as described at the top of this thread, upgrading from 4.2.something. I removed the memory card just to be safe and launched the loader. Selected the checkbox to include DocsToGo and let it go. Total time was just about an hour, with the last of the three "initializing" stages taking a good 20 minutes. Everything was restored properly, the memory card was re-installed and it's now running fine. I'm still waiting for our BES admin to reactivate me on the server, but so far so good!

Thanks a million to everyone here that makes these things fun and easy !!

(and happy holidays!)

Probably my smoothest upgrade yet. Didn't notice much difc this time in free mem but running smoothly.

I wish they considered the memory cleaner (needing to be turned on after every reboot) a bug or just cleaned that up to be nice.

I am going to edit from one of my postings on the volume level. After a solid week of using AT$T 45.110 Upgrade the volume issue is still the same as the previous 4.5 OS the 4.2.170 OS volume level out performs the 4.5 Hands down!!! I wish someone at RIM would fix it and crank the knob back up!!!!! Please!

I upgraded and it went great, but one question. How much file free should I expect assuming just the normally installed apps? The most I ever saw was 19 free (since this upgrade), but some people on the board discuss much higher numbers. The only apps I added were an iPOD theme, Google Maps, a weather monitor, Opera Mini, and a couple of games. All of my photos and videos are stored on a micro SD card.

I just checked it again, and I have only 11 File Free and 57.2 File Total. Is that what I should expect? I know if I reboot it will go back up to 19 free.

I went through it, but I don't know what the objective should be. That's why I'm asking how much memory I should expect with a clean install with standard apps. That's the best case scenario. Then I will know where I stand with mine.

Since upgrading from .108 to .110, my 8310 has been constantly rebooting. I have followed John Clark's advice and removed everything from my media card and it still does it. I even deleted a few apps I was no longer using. Any advice, I have upgraded at least 20 times now without any problems what so ever. Should I down grade or is there a fix ? Also, my memory never gets higher than 13mb even after battery pulls ???

I had the same problem! Thing wouldn't stay on, kept rebooting. Put 12 hours into it, (trial and error, reloading software, different computers, removing programs) and gave up. By any chance, would you happen to be running MapQuest Navigator 5.0?

What you got on your device? Maybe we can get to the bottom of this.

See...that's my point. You have a basic setup and you have 27. So do I, and I have 19. And I didn't install any of the language packs, either. Would my iPhone theme take up so much room?

So, what would account for such a drastic difference? All 8310s are the same, arent' they?

No, I kept the VAD because I use it. I didn't have the ATT them on my previous 4.5 OS, but I had even less memory with that release. I think the max on that release was about 13. I've never even seen close to 21. I even PM'd John Clark on it awhile ago but he didn't respond.

How much is your file total?

CrackMem's a nice free program that basically automates JC's tips. It helps to understand (from JC's tips) what you're removing though when you check off items in CrackMem.

I'm at about 22 and sometimes drift down to between 19 and 13. Running AutoStandby, BBLight, BBSmart Alarms Pro, Facebook, FreeLight, FreeRange, Google Maps (deleted BB Maps), Repligo, BBSmart Shortcuts, StockQuote, WeatherEye and of course, Docs to Go (although I deleted Slides to Go modules)..plus between 7 and 10 themes.

That's closer to me. What's your file total vs free space (check Alt-Shift-H)

No MapQuest Nav or any other extra's as of now, only Myspace but I deleted and reinstalled it and still reboots. I don't even have any games or anything at all on my media card as of now until I find out WTF ?!? Its really becoming annoying .

interesting...

have you downgraded yet?

I had to, I noticed the phone seems to work fine before I restore "my info" back onto it. I actually loaded the apps first before restoring info. Even with the apps I believe it was ok until I "restored" my data (address book, calender, profiles, etc etc).

Hmmmm

Okay.....It's been sitting at "Wait for Device Initialization" for around 3 hrs now. Guess I'll go to bed and see if it takes care of itself by morning.

Okay. It's morning, 8 hours after previous message and Loader was still at exact same place it was last night. Forced it to end. It appears that OS is loaded on blackberry but that contacts, etc., were not restored. I'll try to restore from the backup and see what happens next.
------------
Okay, after restore, it seems fine. Not sure what happened last night or why the install locked up at the "Wait...." screen. Only problem I have now is same one I've had for last 3-4 upgrades -- Chuzzle is not registered which means I'll have to contact Bplay for a new activation code. That's getting old. If it weren't my favorite game, I'd dump it.

I have 24.5 free memory.

Hmmmm....going to have to watch it. As I was posting the update, it decided to auto reboot.
