Default can BAS be installed for high availability

Please Login to Remove!

Hello, I'm a new member and it is my first time posting here!
I have a question:

Assuming that after installing the BES (core components) and then installing BAS as a remote component on a seperate machine. Now when Installing the BES for high availability, is it possible to install the BAS again as a remote component (for high availability)?

Thank you in advance.

Yes you can have BAS installed on multiple servers, I have one dedicated BAS only server and another BAS running on a failover BES server. You cannot have BAS running on both nodes in a failover pair however. Also BAS nodes must be on the same subnet, if they are not you need to change the heartbeat communication between them from UDP to TCP so it can traverse routers.

Mahoward, you actually can run BAS on both nodes of a failover pair. BES failing over has nothing to do with BAS. You can actually think of BAS as a completely separate entity from the BES. BAS can run essentially on any machine as long as it can connect to the DB.

One note however, it would be a best practice to put BAS on similar hardware from a performance perspective as all BAS nodes share common tasks so having them on similar types of hardware would be best.

Out of curiousity, how many BAS nodes do you all think you will install. I am thinking no more than 2 for ~2500 2 BES domain.
