Default OS: 8310 4.5.0.312/4.5.0.187 (Multilanguage)

Please Login to Remove!

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.312 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.312
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.187
* Software Platform: 2.7.0.109
* File name: 8310M_PBr4.5.0_rel312_PL2.7.0.109_A4.5.0.187_O2_UK .exe
* File size: 91.02MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

* Download Software: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...B73B97E1AAA491

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8310:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

For the previous OS, see this link: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ilanguage.html

Just for all this is a very good stable version. So far no memory leaks. There are no new features.

All works well.

Loaded also, no issues. The memory I'll keep an eye on, the last leaked badly.

Hmmm, since loading this morning it's been sitting in the cradle with no email bouncing on it as it's plugged in. Maybe a couple of calendar entries pushed over the air and a couple of basic Blackberry IM chats. Lost a meg of free RAM already.

Anyone know of a utility that can tell you what is using the RAM?

I followed the instructions and my BB is still showing v4.5.0.81 and platform 2.7.0.78.

I have an 8310 Curve with AT&T. Any suggestions? I was never prompted with backup/restore options except for my applications. I removed all except my Blizzard Authenticator. Did keeping that one app stop the full update?

thanks!

I ran the update again, this time I found the backup option and disabled it. I'm still on my old OS though.

Anyone rate this new update vs 182. Couldn't find anything that rates versions. This is my first blackberrym. And already went through the JVM 517 thing. Which with help from searching on this site I had it up and running again in a couple of hours.

Exclamation probleem with keyboard lighting 8320

I recently made an update to 8320 and the start screen lights at maximum intensity and the keys no longer lit. I entered the settings but nothing happens, not even going to screen regulatory intensity.
The screen / keyboard you select automatically Dim Backlight: off nothing happens,
I want to know how to keep version 4.5 and I go and intensity of the screen and keyboard.
I had version 4.2 and before I could key regulatory intensity and screen

I have a 8320 which was running 4.2.2, and I updated it to 4.5.0.81. The update went horribly wrong. I did the update with Blackberry desktop manager for Mac, version 1.0.2. This is what happened:
- I connected the device and created a backup
- Then I started the update
- The update froze up at the point of device restart. I let it run for a good hour (considerably longer than the suggested 20 minutes). I came to the conclusion that the update failed, so I hit the cancel button in the update window (device still connected). Then it said something like "canceling update" and it did cancel the update, for what I can tell .
- I did the whole process again, the same happened, but this time canceling the update did not work either, it froze up completely. After the "canceling update" window was not disappearing for a good ten minutes and the desktop manager was in non-responding mode, I force-quit the app, and disconnected the device. The device was still restarting (hourglass spinning, white screen for like a half hour now). It did not respond to any buttons, tried to hold down on/off button for seconds, etc. Nothing worked. Finally I ended up ripping out the battery, as there seemed to be no other solution.
- I restarted the device, and it was updated to 4.5, but the device was reset, all my settings, contacts, etc. were missing
- So I tried to do a restore my data from the backup (but before doing that, I did yet another backup from the new state of the device)
- Running a full restore ended up in an "unhandled exception" message. Nothing was restored, and in fact my device got reset again.
- Then I tried to restore just my address book, but the "Address Book - All" database of my original (first) backup has 0 records. Which indicates nothing was backed up in the first place.

So, after hours of struggling I have a device that is up to date, but all my personal information, including all settings and all of my contact information and data kept in the Password keeper is lost.

I am a relatively new blackberry user, left very unimpressed with this experience, and I am not alone: (tried to copy link here, forum won't let me)

Is there any hope for retrieving any of the data, or is that it?

I upgraded my 8310 to this latest version, because I couldnt see name when receiving SMS / MMS. So, upgrade went smoothly and now I have two problems:
1. My browser icon is missing?? I can not go on line...
2. All my sample pics are lost? The Sample pictures file is empty..

How come? What should I do?? Ok, this second question is not that important but stil ;)

Know it's been a while since your post so if you tried updating you got your answer by now. For the rest of the people reading this the answer is NO, an unlocked BB would stay carrier unlocked after an OS update.

Default update problem

I updated my Curve 8310 with the newest software via blackberry.com on my desktop. However after it updated my phone will not receive or send bbm, texts, or emails. I can call out and receive calls. I have no idea why this has happened.. any ideas?

If you are on a corporate BB server you might need to have it re-authenticated. If so contact your IT person. They can give you a code an do it over the air OTA
