Default Move to new SQL Server

Please Login to Remove!

We are using BES with Lotus Domino with the users on MSDE. We need to migrate the users to a new BES and on a separate SQL server. Does anyone know if this can be done without handheld recradling?

Thanks.

The procedure is on RIM's website. It does not involve the units at all. I would recommend against moving it to a SQL 2005 database. SQL 2005 is different enough from SQL 2000/MSDE that it may make a difference.

Default Not quite the same

That procedure is to go from one SQL server to another and specifically says it's not for moving from MSDE to SQL. But thanks for the info.

which version of MSDE? if 2000, there should be no issues with simply exporting the whole thing (or stopping services and copying the MDF/LDF files and importing) to a SQL 2000 installation. if 7.0 (for pre-4.0 installations), then it shouldn't be that hard, although if you have no IT Policies in place, then you could just simply build up a new database.

what version of BES, as well?

yes, it's MSDE2000. We are also on BES 4.0 ( no service packs yet ).

Definitely thanks for the advice. It's greatly appreciated.

Is this the article you're refering to:
http://www.blackberry.com/knowledgec...4307&vernum=15

From what I understand, this will allow you to move from MSDE to SQL.
