Exclamation useless mute key and faulty led (help!)

Please Login to Remove!

This is my first blackberry and I think I'm adapting fairly well from WM6 but there seems to be a few problems I keep having.

I have set the LED to on so if I receive a SMS it'll blink in case I'm in another room. However the LED still flashes green. It'll blink red for any unopened e-mails so I know the LED is responsive. Whats the fix?

Also, the mute convenience key on the top right hand corner, is it completely useless because the only thing I've found that it does is switch from whatever profile I'm currently on to vibrate if the screen is locked.

Thanks for your help!

you can go into options | screen led coverage indicator to off. so it'll only blink if youre connectd to a bt headset with blue and red for a new message

the mute convenience key is to mute a call youre on and change profile to vibrate. What else is is suppose to do?

I would expect the standby mode, like on Pearl, 8800, Curve, Bold, when pressing the Mute button for 2 seconds..
But there is no Standby mode on the Storm.

I am really ANGRY about this...

When i press my mute button, it does not change my profile to vibrate. In fact, it does nothing, Does that mean there is a problem on my phone?

I believe the mute button is for media (ie. while playing media if you press mute it mutes) and when you are getting a phone call during a meeting you can turn the ringer off by pressing mute.

If you lock the screen then you can hold down mute and switch it to vibrator.

it will onlyy change to vibrate mode if your phone is locked. that way you do not have to unlock your phone for it to be able to change to vibe (incase you are in a meeting or what not) if it still doesnt work then yes, there is a possibility that your phone is broken.

I have had several problems with having the phone in a pocket and the vibrate mode being set unintentionally very easily. Very frustrating if you get an average of 30 - 50 emails per hour. I would love to find a way to disable the mute key from activating vibrate mode.
