Default Would an unlocked Storm work on ROGERS?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone,

I'm seeing many ads for ebay and kijiji etc claiming unlocked Telus/Bell Storms that will work on Rogers. Is this true?

Should I pursue buying an unlocked Storm to be used on Rogers? Will I have any problems?

Thanks

Be careful . . . no one has unlocked the Bell or Telus Storms yet. Only Verizon or the GSM models!

If you do get it unlocked and working you will be on EDGE only on Rogers. No 3G.

Personally, I'd get the Bold or wait for the new 3G touchscreen rumored to be coming out sometime in 2009.

i'm currently using a 9500 vodaphone storm on the rogers network and it works fine, but as mentioned above, it only connects to EDGE and not 3g

I tried it on rogers and found that many incoming numbers were blocked. My unit was a verizon unit, something internal to the handset caused it to block any numbers from displaying if they were telus phone numbers. Odd isn't it. Any other number, rogers, land line etc worked. Only TELUS numbers would not show.

eventually Rogers will get the Storm 9520 with WiFi and 3G, just a matter of time.
Might be in Mid April, May, June. But they will get it.

From my experience, with the Bold, 8700v,and 8707v, all incoming calls from telus are sometimes blocked. While others from land lines, fido, bell, and rogers are not.

from this i gather its Telus's problem, and not the handset (i even swapped to my old razor and told my buddy(on telus) to call... it does the same thing.

could be anything but i dont think its your 9530 (Verizon)Storm.

Hey, as long as the browser and everything, works for you, it isnt that big a deal is it? Howmany ppl with Telus as their provider do you know?

For myself, I only have 3 who frequently call me.

Please keep me posted as to whether your 9530 Verizon Storm browser works on Rogers Cause i just bought one.

Well, 2 but the other is a Vodafone 9500.... and i know thats no issue.

Thanks
