Default Why the "like" stuff?

Couldn't find any mention as to why new posts now have a Facebook "like" button at the start.
Also, where does this like lead to?

By coincidence I joined another forum that has the same look and settings (for the most part) as BBF. That other forum has a setting for facebook connections or something like that which can be turned off. So I checked here for same setting and didn't see it. I would have turned it off here too.

But I don't know answer to question. Not going to test to find out. Don't use facebook. But the "I like" thing seems to add a little delay to page load.

It has been removed. It was a test, and it was ineffective. It should not have slowed down the site at all, but clearly several people feel it has.

No argument with experimentation, nor with providing more options for more people.

If you try it again, would there be a way to turn it off in personal forum options if we want to?

I won't try it again. The only thing facebook related that is in the future for the site is Facebook Connect, giving new users/guests the option of registering just by signing in to Facebook. We will see how that works.

Ahhh. Ok. That explains the facebook connect setting I saw on that other forum. I didn't know exactly what it was, and didn't know it was different than the I like thing. Now I know!
