Default Can't send from Comcast account

Please Login to Remove!

I set my Comcast email account up on my Pearl. I can get messages, but I can't send messages through that account. In Email Setup, there is a field for email server, which I set to mail.comcast.net. Comcast uses smtp.comcast.net to send though, and there is nowhere to put this in Email Setup. Any ideas?

I've resent Service Books and restarted, still no send.

Are you missing the send option?

No, the send option is there, but when I try to send the message icon turns to a red X.

When you open the message with the red X, what does it show under Status?

It's possible Comcast blocks email to their smtp relay sent from other IP addresses besides their own. You might check with Comcast about that, although I've not seen anyone else post about that problem that I recall.

If you set it up on your device, I'd try deleting the account there and try setting it up with your carrier's online BIS site.

Also, are you on BES with your company, or is this a personal device only? If you are on BES, an IT policy could be blocking it.

I use comcast.net and it works fine. You don't need to set the outgoing because all outgoing email goes via ATT/RIM and uses their servers.

My settings:

Email Server: mail.comcast.net
Email type: POP3
Port: 995
Timeout: 120 seconds
SSL is checked
