Default Rolling back OS due to bizzare problem...?

Please Login to Remove!

OK. This is driving me batty. I upgraded to OS v5.0.0.442 last Sunday. At that point, or shortly there after (perhaps after I got Berryweather up and running or one of the other apps I had to "reinstate"--I don't know for sure) my ALT key started working differently. That is, instead of being able to press the ALT key and HOLD it while hitting, say, the ? mark or a series of 5's, I know have to press and then LET UP on the ALT key before I can press the next character. It never did this before .442! I have been all over trying to find a solution, but none that came up in search address my issue. I am convinced it is a software issue of some sort. Even the Blackberry help site says you should be able to press and hold ALT while hitting another key. Mine now shows a little black "alt" symbol in the upper right corner and patiently waits for you to then select the next key. But I digress...

I am thinking about reverting back to v5.0.0.423. Is this as simple as performing the install, removing the vendor file, etc.? Can you just roll back to a previous OS or will the phone prevent me form doing so? This little glitch has really made my BB a chore to use and it is driving me crazy. Any suggestions on going back to .423, or the underlying issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

CG

I'm using .442 and not seeing this issue. Rolling back to a previous OS should be the same procedure as upgrading to a newer one.

Few people had this issue on Crackberry and it was stuck camera button. Someone there used tip of small pocket knife to pop it out and problem was resolved.

Yes. There are about three things that can cause the ALT key problem. Stuck camera key, lack of battery pull, and the latest .442 OS. The first two were not the cause. I finally rolled back my OS to .405 and the problem went away. The fault is something in the latest .442 version that only affects about six phones worldwide.
