My Pearl was bad with dust under the lcd lens (outer glass). My Curve is downright horrible. I have to open it a few times a year to get the dust out. So...

1. Is the Bold also a dust magnet?

Also regarding the service.

2. Can you opt to switch off the AT&T 3G service and solely use EDGE?

I have not had the dust issue under the screen as I did with my 8310. Also, you cannot turn off 3G and solely use EDGE with the At&t Bold and their network.

You are stuck with 3G. Dust is not an issue as the protector is integrated with the screen (as is directly laminated to it).
