Default Red LED blinks but there are NO messages

Please Login to Remove!

8830.

Just yesterday the RED blinks but there is NO reason for it. I read the message and deleted it. Still blinks. I sent a message and it alerted and blinked. I read it and deleted it and it still blinks. I've done an alt-shift-del and a program Soft-reset. I even striped it of its Otterbox and did a REAL battery pull.

The led stops for a bit but then comes back.

I went so far as to delete all email messages - still blinks.

I have the latest true Verizon OS for it and have NOT experimented with the beta. Altho, I am getting tempted since what do I have to lose if the blinking persists.

NO water damage and the battery shows clean as far as that goes.

Got this unit in Janurary and have not had other issues.

Ideas anyone?

Thanks in advance.

The red LED should blink red for about 15 mins after you receive the alert. That may be even after the message is read.

Okay, but then it restarts blinking again. I am sitting by it and it did stop. No messages, no phone calls, no alarms. And it is now blinking again. Nothing that I'm aware of triggered the alert but is is blinking Red.

I've had this problem with my pearl if I am having a conversation with messenger. If I go into my messages, find the last messenger message on the list...mark it unread, then mark it read the light goes away.

Not sure if it helps, just an experience I have

I just checked and showed all icons. Nothing stands out. I don't use sms texting and I believe I actually removed the module. I don't see any messages anyway.

Do I have to wipe and reload?

For the heck of it, put the proper settings in another one of your profile choices and see what happens. It may be just that part of your profiles that may be corrupted.

I may have found something - WeatherBug has alerts. Seattle's heat is quite unusual and while the thunderstorm alert was issued today, the Red led was doing its thing yesterday.

So I will follow this and see if that is it. The OBSCURE!!!!

Oh, I like that idea - if the WeatherBug alerts does not pan out, I will clean up my profiles or just create them anew.

I think you will find it is Weatherbug. I too have seen this happen, and if I went into the weatherbug application there was an alert that had gone out for a thunderstorm watch. A couple of ways you can tell in weatherbug is the weatherbug direct icon will turn red which is quite obvious, usually happens for a severe alert. But for lesser alerts (air quality alert for example) only the temperature will have turned red, not the entire icon.
