anyone know if this version makes the UI faster than the .81?

Since i've updated to 4.5.0.81 from 4.2, the blackberry is very slow.

the 4.5.0.81 update failed in the middled and it ended up wiping out my device. So that the reason?

Luckly, I had backed up prior to installing the 4.5 OS.

Can anyone tell any added benefit from 81 to 93? Seems like it's not worth the trouble - I've been happy with 81 so far but could not see a difference from 69. Maybe that's just me being a newbie?

Well it wouldn't have been built if it didn't address some issues. However, this late in the game most people can't tell what differences there are. So if you're happy with .81 and it works well for you I'd suggest not upgrading.

I'm rolling back to .81, the UMA to EDGE handoff keeps dropping call, its really starting to piss me off. Plus battery life is no better on this build. The memory leak has been plugged a little, but the dropped calls bacl me want to roll back to .81. Anybody else have these issues?

.81 tended to freeze up on me for perhaps 15 seconds at a time. Now, with .93, I haven't experienced that yet. I had actually gotten to the point where I thought the Viigo beta was the problem -- but with .93, it all seems to be working well. I have a good amount of free mem left, UI response seems better than with .81, and no freeze ups so far...

I have noticed the my signal goes in and out with this build. It seems like it just started happening the last day or so. I get SOS and then my signal comes back. I hope another build comes out soon. I don't feel like downgrading. Where's the official release when we need it?

I can't put any numbers to this to prove, but it feels like my network response time is better now with .93 than .81. The apps in question I use connect then download data of a fairly consistent size within reason - Freerange, LogicMail, and GoogleMail are my benchmarks. It feels like I obtain a connection faster and the bits flow better. Even the SyncJe client downloaded 105 new calendar entries for me after the upgrade went swimmingly well and fast. (T-Mo BIS/WAP, not WiFi)

I have been using .81 and I've found it to be very good, in terms of battery life, the memory issue, and general performance. The only slight glitch I've noticed is it takes JiveTalk longer to connect under UMA. But it's not a big problem.

There are some issues that have been in all the 4.5 betas I've seen. One of them is the failure to use the 'from' address associated with an addressee, when starting from the media manager and emailing a photo or video. So even though when writing an email to John Doe, the BB remembers that I use my yahoo account for him, if I go to email an attachment from the media manager (or from the camera or video apps), it just picks the the 'from' address on my list. I've mentioned this before, and continue to hope it will be fixed.

Another issue--and this one plagued OS 4.2 as well--is the false unsent message issue, and general glitchiness dealing with emails with photo or video attachments. I've posted about this one elsewhere too. The main problem is that sometimes when I try to send an email with a photo or video or sound attachment, I get the red 'x' that says the email didn't get sent, but at least sometimes it in fact did. At other times, it didn't, and for no apparent reason (good reception, strong signal, etc.).

It would be good to know if either of these problems is addressed in .93. If not, I don't see any pressing reason to upgrade.

The default email address issue has not been fixed. I've seen the occasional unsent message when sending photos. It's pretty rare, though. I always see reasons to upgrade. They had to have changed something, or fixed some bug somewhere that may creep up and there is nothing worse about .93 than .81. .93 has given me very few problems.

I've experience that dreadful red 'x' when sending photo's before on some rare occasion's but after doing a battery pull it would send aok...I have never experienced the red 'x' and had the msg recieved on the other end as you mentioned.

ever since .69 has come out I've been very pleased...and with every version that has followed since the .69 build.
